I have also read that some players, men and women, have their caddies do the midpoint read while they are checking out the putt from other angles.

Thx.

Saves time.

As stated previously, Lewis' issues on the last 2 holes looked like speed - they crawled to the hole and broke against her. At the same time, I was looking for fingers, so I mis-spoke.

A belated thanks to @iacas for answering my questions earlier.

I just ordered the DVD.  I've taken the fundamentals class, I hopefully I already have the skills that are hard to learn from the DVD.  The clinics around here cost $200, though perhaps I could have gotten a better deal individually by skipping the introductory stuff.  Either way, its done!

The AE video came quick and I just watched it for the first time.  My initial impression is that it appears remarkably quick and easy.  I don't think the midpoint read took very long, but this is really fast.

I do agree with others that it might be hard to figure out if you've never taken an aimpoint class.  It seems a bit like voodoo magic because there's not a real good explanation as to why it works.  But I've seen enough to just accept that it does.  Can't wait to give it a try.

Does it matter much if the instructor is a "level 1" vs a "level 2" (or higher) instructor?

I'm considering taking the AimPoint Express X1 and X2 course.  Trying to figure out of if the schedule works for me (3 hour drive each way), plus the cost ($175), but I'm curious about what the instructor levels refer to.

It can. It speaks to the experience they have. But it's not something to which I'd give a ton of weight.

Just the length of time and the number of students they've taught.

Let us know how your course goes… enjoy it!

Higher level is more experience?

Yes.  But it doesn't mean that a lower level instructor can't help you.

If nothing else, get a video ready for a "my swing" thread. Once I did that once or twice, going over to evolvr was easy.

I did evolvr last year and you are correct @Shindig it was easy ... and I followed your recommend path of "my Swing" then on to evolvr ... want to start earlier this year ... just have to pay my setup fee again, then get started! My goal is to have my lesson with aim point arranged for this weekend ... at least that is my goal ... waiting to hear back from the instructor tomorrow.

Good luck!

If you have a good instructor you won't regret it.

Is a $100 the average cost? If it helps me to putt better its money well spent! God knows I have spent more on putters hoping by some miracle it would improve my putting.

I don't remember how much I paid but it was more than $100 do it sounds like you're getting a good price.

$125 is average for Level 1.

Mine's better. It's a screenshot from the iPad. :) Yours doesn't even have the word "AimPoint" visible! :-D

Biatch! :-) That's right, I'm bringin' back the late 90s/early 00s.

    • the rules have changed, but this would fall under 11.2 in the current rules.  General Penalty to any player who deliberately deflects a ball in motion, and you must replay the putt.
    • Day 250 4-29 Getting chest through with speed on downswing and wrist arch. Also worked on some moving the pelvis slightly away in the backswing. Feel like im going too fast and long, looks like it on the recordings too.
    • Interesting that it's no penalty, but then again, I can't imagine someone would purposefully put their foot out there in this situation or one like it.  And then there was the time someone purposefully deflected his own ball during a major, but that's very different too. The only time I can recall a ball I hit hitting another player or their equipment was ages ago -- over a decade and a half ago.  I had a 3' putt for an 89 and someone (a random pairing, not someone I knew) decided it was a good time for goaltending practice.  That wouldn't fall under this rule, though (and it wasn't in a tournament anyway). Thanks for continuing to share these, Dave!  I always find these interesting.
    • Day 51 (29 Apr 26) - Worked with a few of the golf team kids plus my grandson (he’s too young for the team as it’s middle-high school age and he’ll be 10 Sat).  He put on a small hitting clinic (hitting off the same tees as the rest of the boys) - one of the older kids called him a “coach”.  Worked in a few shots for myself - had the light bag: driver, 7w, 4 - 6 - 8 - Pw - Sw (DCI 962’s except the Sw a 981) and Zebra putter….got in some great tee shots, a couple of recovery and an awesome up and down for bogie: 55 yds out, hitting 4th shot due to 2nd getting tangled in limbs - see the window I need to hit for a tight spinner with the Sw - nail it to a postage letter distance from the cup for a tap in bogie….my kind of practice.
    • Day 21, April 29.  Before going to work this morning, I worked in my indoor practice room for 20 minutes.   This was entirely 6-iron shots with the usual step.  Video yesterday showed me that I'm still straightening my trail leg too much (leading to the backswing length issue I've been working to fix), so I focused on not doing that in my rehearsal swings.
