Would like to get to the point where I'm legitimately pissed off if I shoot more than 75 on an average course. That's really as good as I can see myself ever getting.

To post good scores, enjoy the company and the game.

If I have an ambition it would be to lower my handicap, which would happen anyway if I shot good scores. I've done the under par, hole in one, won decent amatuer comps, and I hope everyone has a bite of those pies.

My one other golfing ambition, which in reality this late in my golfing life is just a dream, would be to be club champion. I've had lowest gross plenty of times but not on the right day.

Well, I've decided to modify my goals slightly: Establish a handicap, again, and play a sanctioned event as a senior. That's if my back holds out...

Titleist 909f3 13.5* Aldila NV

Ping S57 3-PW KBS C-taper

SC Newport 2.5

Definitely to get to a single digit handicap. Need to find more time to play and practice for that to happen. Tough to improve otherwise. I'm going the other way at the moment :-(.

i need to find a solid, consistent setup to the ball.  8 years of guessing has turned into a malformed setup and it's proving difficult to change.

To have fun and try to make sure that I'm pleasant company for the people I play with.  I've already accomplished more than I ever expected in the game, so I'm just happy to be out on the course.

I just want to stay consistent. Keep the blow out rounds at bay, keep the handicap around the 6 mark. I reached a few personal goals this year. One was to get my handicap to 6, even got to 5 for a few weeks. Another was to have a sub par round during a competition round. I missed out on club champs this year due to a back injury, so I guess I would like to be more competitive around that time of year.

My first goal in golf is to shoot 69 on an average course.  My next goal will be to maintain a + handicap for more than a year.  My next goal will be to shoot 68 on a difficult course.  After that my goal will be to get just a little bit better.  Then my goal will be to not get sad when it all disappears and I'm a bedridden old man.

To enjoy the walk and company, and shoot in the 70's again ... but this time, with a technically sound swing and with consistency.

That would be nice.

    • Thank you.  I'll cross it off the list since it isn't going to achieve what I want.
    • While it does turn out that both Tiger and Phil are less squeaky clean than I previously believed, I don't think golf quite has the worst in professional sports.  Or maybe they're better at image management.   Obviously I'm not fond of Phil's issue we're discussing in this thread (or his involvement with LIV) or Tiger's choices of how to drive.  I used to really like Dustin Johnson and, even before the LIV situation, we started to hear rumors that he bought more snow than Seward, although I don't think those stories were ever substantiated.  Meanwhile, I did think of Anthony Kim as the "good, bad boy" of the tour for a while fifteen years ago because of his party persona -- and if it turns out the worst he did was show up hung over to play (barring what one thinks of LIV), that's pretty good.  And I'm still happy he found a way to get his life clean. If we contrast that with some other sports I enjoy, I'm sure we could find a nice long list of NFL players that, at one point in my life, I was quite fond of, we get far worse disappointments (to put it mildly).
    • Answering that properly would land me in hot water, so I'm not going to. I don't think that many people would do that. I think that in certain circumstances many people would be willing to overlook someone doing that. But I was really referring to what I assumed was Tiger's transgressions (cheating on his wife) not Phil's.
    • No! Is a large part of the human population selfish, apathetic and cuts corners in the name of self-preservation 'more than they would like to admit', yes. Degenerate, scum, etc?.. no!! Most humans/men would not grope a woman like Phil is accused of doing (I think he absolutely did). That is scum. I mean what % of men do you think would do that? Seriously??
    • I don't think that is true at all. That is off-topic here, I think.
