Tiger's game is looking solid this week. Too far back today, but really nice going on a sunday in tough conditions. It's still a matter of putting together four good rounds, the total game is there. Sunday nerves also looking to be a bigger factor than we're used to seeing from him. He's playing better when coming from behind than being up ahead in the lead on sundays. Current stats: Driving accuray: [COLOR=FF00AA]70.6%, T11th[/COLOR] Driving distance: [COLOR=FF00AA]307.9, 1st[/COLOR] Strokes gained - Putting:[COLOR=FF00AA] 30th, 0.423[/COLOR] Putts: [COLOR=FF00AA]25.8, T43[/COLOR] Putts per GIR: [COLOR=FF00AA]1.696, 19th[/COLOR] GIR: [COLOR=FF00AA]70.8%, T4th[/COLOR] How about Rory's scrambling and putting today? Making some big putts out there for par.

How about Rory's scrambling and putting today? Making some big putts out there for par.

Yup, he's playing like Tiger used to, not making mistakes and forcing the other players to take risks to catch him. He hasn't been that sharp, but nobody's caught him yet. Still, he's hit enough wayward approaches today that he's got to be very nervous about the Bear Trap. How about a playoff between Tiger and Rory for the trophy?

Tiger is just starting it. After he his his tee the ball on 15 and barely cleared the water, you could hear a muffled f-bomb get through the GC broadcast. :-P

LOL, he got robbed on those, but the golf gods just made it up to him. He made birdie on a hole where he was very lucky his approach didn't spin back into the water. He's now four back of Rory, who just shortsided himself. One gust of wind in the Bear Trap might decide this.

Very True! It just stuck there. Tiger got lucky but that's what it takes. Tiger needs to birdie at 3 of the last 4. And who knows once they get to the trap!

ha ha ha! That was one of the best ones yet. The best part is the smiles on the guys faces in the gallery behind him that heard it.

I don't really think it has gone all that cold today....it's not like he is missing putts from 5-10 feet. Both of those last putts that he has missed were outside 15. Unless I missed something. And Johnny Miller has obviously not been watching any of the coverage prior to him coming on air...he just said that Rory has been using a lot of those stinger 3 woods. I don't think I have EVER seen Rory hit that shot in any tournament.

He was never really in contention today. 4 points was the smallest deficit, and at that point Tiger was hot and Rory was cold. I was expecting Rory would heat up at some point, and he did.

How could you say he was never in contention? Now he is only 3 back, and the players ahead of him still have to play a few holes and maintain their scores, talk about pressure. I'd say he is right in contention, and I despise the guy.

Yeah, I mean he was 9 back at the start of the day. Johnny Miller is saying that he doesn't hit putts when it matters? Well he just hit a bomb on 17 and I am pretty sure it mattered to Tiger. And here he goes on 18! Hell yeah!!!!! Eagle takes him to -10 and Rory's you know what is going pucker up a bit when he sees it on the scoreboard.

What a shot by Tiger on 18! Fantastic round today, along with Westwood. I don't think Rory will lose it, but Tiger really did what he could today. And even had a couple of close ones he missed for birdie. Tiger winning The Masters would be the best storyline in golf the last couple of years. He's certainly got the game, it's all a matter of putting together four rounds.

      To flog this subject even further, if that's even possible, this article from Golf Monthly just appeared today in one of my news feeds. Written by a golf writer in the UK who I never heard of, he's basically saying that there should be only 3-5 rounds from the most recent 20 that should count towards the average and only competitive rounds should count. He claims the erratic scorers would have less of an advantage than they do now. He makes a lot of references to "club golfers" in the UK being the ones who are mostly dissatisfied. https://share.google/qmZZBEoJvOxHxJGil  In my experience with my league where we have golfers with indexes ranging from 5 to 40, looking at the weekly results from the past two years, I can detect no pattern that would substantiate the claim that the current system gives an unfair advantage to either erratic golfers (aren't we all?) or higher handicappers. Apparently though, at least in the UK, this seems to be "a thing."
