I can appreciate this in some ways but would you buy and use Bubba's pink driver?

I read it was his own charity "Bubba and Friends" drive to a mission campaign and it goes towards cancer research so the pink could be misleading.

I thought it was for breast cancer. I don't remember that part for sure. Here is roughly what I read, not all exact: ping is donating 300 a drive for up to 100? drives. and giving 11% per driver. I believe they also donated an amount prior to releasing the club as well. I will try to post the article at some point of I can find it.

I appreciate the cause, but no, I wouldn't play it. It looks hideous.

Not to mention the fact that I don't hit it long anyway - about 240-250 tops. So it's a gag in waiting.

Besides, wait a year & it's gonna be on Divot for $99.

It's "Bubba and Friends drive to a million", not mission, sorry for the typo.  Ping is also donating money for every drive Bubba hits over 300 yards.

PGA.com:

Two days after Watson won the Masters, Ping said it would sell 5,000 limited-edition G20 drivers with the pink shaft and head. The drivers sell for $430, and Ping said it would donate 5 percent to a fundraising campaign called, ''Bubba Long in Pink. Driven by Ping.''

tgc.com:

The sale of the drivers will benefit Watson's "Bubba & Friends Drive to a Million" charity effort this season. Watson seeks to raise $1 million for cancer research.

Ping has already committed up to $100,000 to the effort – $10,000 up front and another $300 for the first 300 drives of 300 yards or more this season. From the driver sales, 5 percent of the proceeds will help Watson's goal

Cancer research, I assumed breast.

Thank you, but no thank you.  Some colors are too distracting and I imagine pink (as well as gold) on a driver head would be - but that's a personal thing.  Different strokes for different folks.

I wouldn't use it. I don't like bright colors like that, and pink isn't very high on my list of color preferences either.

My wife is extremely girly, but even she can only deal with so much pink. I dont think the pink club head thing is going to catch on.

I'm not 100% sure of exactly when, but I saw an interview with Bubba where they asked him why the shaft in his driver was pink.  Apparently, the only significance of the pink color is that he likes it.

PING increases pink G20 driver

donation to $50 per club

PHOENIX (April 12, 2012) -- PING announced today it will increase its charitable contribution from the sale of 5,000 pink G20 drivers to $50 per club, ensuring a $250,000 donation toward Masters Champion Bubba Watson’s goal of raising $1 million for charity in 2012. The decision comes after the overwhelming response to the introduction of the club just two days ago.

On Tuesday, PING had pledged 5% of the proceeds to charity when it introduced the all-pink driver, which is inspired by the G20 driver Bubba used to win the Masters. The 5,000 limited-edition drivers will be available in golf shops around June 1.

“We looked back at the last few days and realized that with all the tremendous energy Bubba has created with his win at the Masters and for our brand, we needed to do more with this opportunity to give back to those in need,” said John A. Solheim, PING Chairman & CEO. “The response to the pink G20s has exceeded expectations at this point, so we’re increasing our commitment to help bring Bubba closer to his goal of raising $1 million for charity this year.”

In January, Watson announced the formation of “Bubba & Friends Drive to a Million” – a year-long effort to raise $1 million for charity through his own efforts and the support of his partners and sponsors. At that time, PING launched “Bubba Long in Pink. Driven by PING,” a program that pledges $300 for every drive Bubba hits farther than 300 yards (up to 300 drives). It kicked off the initiative with a $10,000 donation.

To date, Bubba has launched 172 eligible drives of 300-plus yards on the PGA Tour, raising $61,600 from PING. He is 128 qualifying drives short of 300. Based on his current pace, it’s expected he’ll reach the 300 milestone in June.

All the monies raised through “Bubba Long in Pink. Driven by PING” will be donated to yet-to-be-named charities in the Phoenix area, where PING is headquartered.

If I was in the market for a driver right now I would probably go for that haha.  It would be funny seeing peoples reactions when you grabbed that out of the bag on the first tee.

Hell yes, I'm all about standing out on the course! I've recently re-gripped my irons to different colours so I'd welcome this with open arms!

If 100% of the money spent to buy the club went to support breast cancer research, Id buy one and use it.

My wife tells me that the colour pink is hugely associated with breats cancer and she understood immediately the theme of the cause. She doesn't have a clue about golf but she does understand this charity better than most. I will gladly try to buy one of these drivers when they become available. I hope Bubba manages to hit the 300 300+ drives and raise his million bux for the cause. Three cheers for Bubba and Ping! Hip hip....
