73. Apparently I need to study up. :-( But I got most of the important ones right, and I was close on the ones I got wrong.

Not so happy with my 40- normally I am pretty good at multiple choice, but was purely guessing on some of these.

When I played a lot as a teenager, I used to be a good putter, but this has been a weakness in recent years.  What is a good link to reading up on the basics of modern day green reading.

not bad for being bewildered by half of the questions...

I like how even if you fail, you still get a nice little e-certificate. Everyone's a winner!

53, but based on my knowledge of the stuff they ask questions about, I would give myself a 90. I got most of the ones I had a chance on right. The questions about which influences break the most, the % questions etc. are stuff I just took a wild guess on. Q.11) Putts never break uphill. A. True (Correct Answer) B.False (Your Answer) It won't break if the hill is straight (duh), but it will break if the hill is angled. A dead straight putt will never break, regardless of the amount of slope. I didn't understand that one.

53% I agree with what most are saying here that I got most of general rules ones right, but when it came to the math, time, and percent ones, no offense, but does it really matter?

Important things to take away IMO:

- A putt that would roll out two feet past the hole makes the width of the hole smaller

-Stimp does not change with uphill/downhill direction.

-The first part of the putt affects the second part of the putt, no matter what the speed is.

-Putts break downhill, not necessarily towards water.

-Grain grows downhill 99% of the time

-Plum-bobbing will tell you the direction on a sinlge breaking putt, but not the amount.

53% like the others I got the non mathematical equation questions correct for the most part. Not entirely sure that knowing how long a 20 foot straight downhill putt takes on a steep (4%) slope at stimp 10 will actually help me putt better. Plus my playing partners hate it when I break out my protractor and scientific calculator on each green, it slows down play a tad. :-P

67 (and in my defense I misunderstood the expected order of the 6 choices in the first question ... I went 6 to 1 instead of 1 to 6)  However, even then I would have only got 1/6 in the right place instead of zero.

Putts don't break uphill, Zeph. C'mon now.

And the point of the downhill 4% question was to drive home the point that a downhill putt breaks more because it's hit with less speed, thus giving gravity more time to have an effect on the ball.

I use an AimPoint chart every time I play, Danny, and I'm twice as fast now. I was already fast before.

In the last AimPoint clinic I did I had someone time me. From the moment I arrived at my ball to the moment a 15-foot putt was struck (I made it), I did a full read and pre-shot routine (and replaced my ball) in 22 seconds. :)

    • Day 24 9-7 Worked on lower body movement with full swing. Focused on hips. Need to work on setup a bit. Was hoping to get to the short game area today, stayed home and recorded some swings instead. I've come to the conclusion I learn the most with my practice setup at home, just a net and a hitting strip. Overall happy with the progress this week.
    • Day 2 (September 7), still with the grip and the medicine ball (using weights).   Still on vacation and really aching to be able to do a full practice the way I'd be able to at home.  Also bought a 1/2" section of pipe today at the hardware store and have been regularly practicing the grip with that too while watching Sunday football with the family.
    • Day 1: Worked on feels for wedge swings. Primarily getting everything to move from the top of the backswing in the correct sequence.
    • Day 6 (7 Sep 25) - Afternoon pitch session with the 54 and 58 in the backyard. Keys: Alignment - Setup - Smooth swing thru - working on each to be as “automatic” as possible - not mindless, but deliberately repeatable. I have found the precision required to properly execute carries well into the full swings.
    • 180% is the threshold. But yeah, many of them are close to 200%. Not 120 and 123%. People generate speed differently. I think your speed will come more easily when this stuff gets sorted out. Stay disciplined. Stay on the road. You can't get off exit 74 before you hit exit 32.
