It looks like his lead foot is off the ground at impact, but his weight is definitely forward.

I'd say his weight is 50/50 at best and then he's explosive off the ground so he's actually slightly airborne.

As to how? Very simple: it's a driver. His iron swing (i.e. ball on the ground) won't look like this.

Ha Ha, that is nuts . Definitely won't using that as a swing model!

Yours in earnest, Jason.

I have video of me from about 2007 where my regular swing was me basically doing that with my back foot.

Driving, by and large, is a different model than the golf swing when the ball is on the ground. Low point can (and for the majority probably should) be behind the golf ball, speed becomes more important if you can hit it anywhere near the center of the face, and so on.

Long drive guys, for example, can both teach us things we should strive to do and the opposite - things that only they can do because their "game" is different than ours (one out of six in a grid versus every shot counting in golf).

Having a bunch of low back problems...I'm thinking of giving this a try.  The Stallings-Bubba Twist!

The only way I can get any height with my driver is to put all of my weight on my back foot - it also goes 6 miles right.

I remember when I first found this forum and posted my very first post about two different swings...one for driving the ball off the tee and iron shots on my very first post.

about tracman data reporting a slight upward swing in some golf magazine was my source. I think I  was ridiculed for "believing everything I read" in golf magazines. Now, a little more than a year later, here we are.

Flipping through an old thread, and no, that's not quite what you were saying…

It's off topic for this thread, but… the thread linked there continues on. It was a D-Plane article. :-)

P.S. The driver swing is different than the iron swing. I've said that for awhile now. A LOT in common, but different goals and objectives. That changes a few things. That's why Scott Stallings' swing is different with a driver versus iron.

I notice Bubba does the same sometimes with his front foot off the ground.

Reminds me of some baseball players who drag their front foot off the ground when they attempt to swing and hit the ball.
