I don't take gimme 3-foot putts. But I do take gimme 300-yard drives. I just place that ball in the center of the fairway and call it good. 😉

Glad I'm not the only one. 😝

I know, how much time do you have to spend browsing forums to find that?

If you're playing for money, call him out for cheating. If not, I personally don't care what anyone does. I play by the rules and I care about my score. If a buddy wants to roll it over, let him. Just my opinion.

I agree.

I’m sure  there are still many ‘groups’ in these munis that play by their ‘own rules.’ Back in my 20’s I was in a group that played every Saturday in a 4 man best ball. Handicaps were unheard of. They basically took the top golfers ( he shoots about..) as captains then chose teams. The course was a goat ranch but I played the ball down. Most the other guys didn’t. A little nudge here and there on every shot. I was always ribbed for trying to follow the actual rules. Some would actually say, ‘we’re not good enough to follow the rules the way the pros do.’ Huh? Lol.

The money wasn’t big but it would irk me when I’d have a chance to make a little side cash then lose out because the head pro at the course would roll one in. So many of these guys had single digit handicaps. I’d get a good laugh when several of us would go play a tournament out of town and lo and behold those single digit guys were lucky to break 90. They’d say ‘ tough course.’ Yeah...that was it.

I've got a friend who doesn't know how to count very well when he's golfing. Golf for him is a day outdoors with his buddies, a few beers, and time off from chores and childcare, so I don't give him too much grief. But we do a counting lesson at the completion of each hole.

That's my buddy..

The Rak-o-potamus got me started on this game in the first place. He's a truly skilled athlete, but just doesn't get the time to play much golf.

On Tuesday, we hole out No. 18, head to the clubhouse where he's doing his math. "We tied" he announced loud enough for anyone to hear if they cared.  "Oh yeah. So what did we shoot?" I asked. "97." he says certainly. "No chance. Get me a beer and I'll figure it out for you," I told him.

Turns out he double-counted the 18th hole. He had my bogey and his par in both the spot for 18 and the In.

Will say for the big fella, that was one of the cleanest rounds I've seen him play, scorecard gaffe aside.
