yeah, but what if its at the end of the day of the only day that theyre attending, then what?  thats why i say the player should confront them on the spot and assault them.

I could see Sergio showing how to properly use lag to take off a knee cap with a 9 iron and saying "Say hello to my little friend"!

It is just inexcusable to deliberately yell during a players swing before the strike.  As pointed out these guys play for money and yelling during their swing is akin to stealing money from their wallet.  Certainly the individual should have been escorted off the course to never return.  But I just don't know what else could be done.  I too don't really like yelling after the  hit but at least you're not stealing the man's money.

The yellers are only yelling to insert themselves into the event. They are drawing attention away from the actual play and to themselves. Reason enough to pull their ticket.

You mean the the same Tiger who stops his swing on the downswing and glares at the crowd if it was someone in the gallery who caused the distraction?  Yea that guy really "shuts the stuff out" eh?

Same for the idiot that got Zack Johnson's attention on the 18th green with whatever he said. He said something derogatory enough that Johnson stopped, glared at him, tapped in, and then after his playing partner tapped in they BOTH went and verbally confronted that guy.

When was this?  After the 3rd round?

He should have definitely been removed from the tournament grounds.  Earlier in May, I witnessed a guys phone go off at the Wells Fargo Tournament. It was right as\fter hole 17 where Nick Watney had hit an awful shank. He goes to take his second shot, and during his backswing the guys phone goes off.  The guy said, "My bad." Watney just glared at him and everybody else was just shaking their head, myself included.  If I were him, I would have gone up to the guy and said, "Do I come to your job and cause you to lose thousands of dollars?"

yeah, i think the threat of physical violence is necessary.  people who go run out on a baseball field know that theyre getting thrown out and not coming back, but they dont care.  continue to taze them and see if things change...

Guys I am a lucky fella who gets the PGA tour live in the evenings here in the UK, and I have been a massive fan for about three years.  Love my four nights watchin the players and seeing the courses, but one thing spoils it. Stupid idiotic people who think it's clever to shout out and get their voice on TV.  One guy the other week shouted a love you message to his girl, not even related to what he was watching, just wanted his mouth on TV.  Seriously, PGA has got to do something cos it spoils the event and makes American fans look bad and disrespectful around the world.

I absolutely agree Keith, it does tarnish the reputation of fans across the nation.

That said, it is the responsibility of the PGA and host courses to police this issue.

I do not agree with the violence proposed by Colin007, we're golfers, not pugilists for crying out loud.

look, obviously, im saying things tongue in cheek.  am i advocating physical violence?  not really.  but would i mind it if a player confronted a fan and they got in a tussle?  not at all.  of course, it would probably get out of hand quickly, but im thinking it would help a bit.  even just having your caddie drag them out by the hair or something like that.

No, no physical violence, but I think that golfer, caddie, any PGA tour official in the pairing has the right to throw out any body who does stupid shit like that. It would be fun to see a golfer point at the guy, and do a baseball umpire, "Your out of here" action.

I'm ok with it.......

Never gonna happen with a player, unfortunately.  They have too much to lose.  Be nice to see the idiot, ahem.......slip and fall in the crowd though.

As others have said I think he should be thrown out, but if it was gonna happen to anyone I am glad it was Sergio.

Funny.

Reap what you sow I guess, I don't see people doing something like this to the class acts on the tour.

Yeah, crowd control would be great.  "Honest, Officer!  He was right in front of me and then he slipped and I just happened to be wearing my old school footjoys with the metal spikes!"
