Nope. I liked it, although it wasn't one of my favorites. It does meander- life meanders too doesn't it? - but I think the main reason I never finished it was because I dowloaded it on my phone. I'll never read a book that way again, I don't even think I'd enjoy a kindle.

I'm with you on the e-format...I much prefer paper. Life does meander...but I just didn't connect with anyone in that book...

Probably his two best, with a nod to Garp. Have you read In One Person? Just brought it up in another thread. How about Until I Find You? Lame ending but great story.

Several books open right now.  Napoleon biography.  Another is a history of Baghdad from it's 8th Century founding through the conclusion of the US war.  Recently finished The Rush, a history of the California gold rush from 1848-1852.

I like history.

Hey guys, nice to see there are some readers here. Nout currently reading anything but ive read most of grishams, crichton, ludlumnl, and pattersons work. Read the wheel of time series which is prob my fav of all time.

It be interested to hear what you think. I loved his first book, got bored reading his second book and never really kept up with him after that.

I liked "The Circle" but it was a bit long. If you don't trust Google/Microsoft you might get a kick out of it. I've read most of Dave Eggers' books. Zeitoun and "What is the What" are probably my favorites.

I'm halfway through "The Wolf of the Plains" now. It's pretty good.

Anyone eagerly waiting The Winds of Winter? Here's a leaked 3 page outline GRRM had for ASOIAF way back in 93. Spoilers warning of course.

Game of ****ing Thrones.

I quit eagerly waiting a long time ago. ;-) So at least now we have time frame of when it is released.  I started watching the series first then started reading the books.  Now I have a tough time keeping the story lines and characters straight.

Back on topic, I am currently reading Inferno -- The World at War 1939-1945 - Max Hastings.

I have to say I'm not overly enthused about the Winds Of Winter. I think if GRRM wants the book to be written quicker, QUIT WRITING SO MUCH ABOUT THE DAMNED FOOD! I really struggled to finish the last book in the series.

1Q84 - Haruki Murakami

This was a little of a slog towards the end. I enjoyed Kafka and Bird Chronicles. I think his style of storytelling started to wear on me. Summer beach reading - The Ghostwriter, Fatherland. Enjoy Harris' thrillers.

    • Day 314 - Putting some things together. Better grip/setup, fuller backswing, better finishing position. Filmed some swings, happy with the progress.
    • Day 130: did a stack session.
    • Day 206 (24 Nov 24)  - An easy session with the 54deg wedge and hard foam balls / one simple goal - distance control thru backswing length while not decelerating.  Had a playing partner comment they noticed me decelerating on a couple short wedge shots in last round.  Hit from distances from close to 40yds down to 20.
    • Musgrove Mill hole #15 was converted to a par 3 after Hurricane Helene. Today, I had 145 from the tee which is a perfect 9-iron for me. I aimed just right of the hole and pulled it a few feet. Clanked off the stick down into the hole and ricocheted out of the hole 13’ away. Drained the putt for a birdie after repairing the hole which was damaged . Not sure if it would have counted as a HIO, but I was pretty excited!
    • Day 55 - 2024-11-24 Did five levels of Operation 36 on GSPro (different courses). 🙂 Was -4 from 200 yards (32) intentionally laying up on each hole (i.e. not hitting a 5I or something). Shot… 22, 24, 26 from 25, 50, and 100 yards. I forget my 150-yard score, but obviously it was < 36. Putting was odd… (and I did it with the wedge or a 7I or whatever was in my hand).
