We only have 3 or 4 inches where I am in eastern Canada. I'm close to the coast though. They have a lot more inland. I want golf.

Nice, what did you get?

Taylormade Jetspeed driver and Speedblade irons. My old set was a bargain basement Wilson set that I bought 12+ years ago when I first started playing.

Nice.

You'll have to let us know how you do with them when you play with them in March.

Definitely. Can't wait. Should be a big difference from what I was using. My "woods"were really made of wood...

The good news is I got out of Boston just before the storm.  We got 30 inches.  Luckily my son is home from college and helped out tremendously.  I headed south to play golf in the Orlando/Cocoa Beach area.

The bad news is I hurt my right forearm in the middle of the third round.  I strapped it up tight for the last round but it was painful the whole time.  Still had fun for the most part.

The coolest thing is we went on the fishing half day trip out of Cape Canaveral.  On the way in, dolphins rode the bow wave of the boat for about 10 minutes.  We were literally five feet above them.  That made the whole trip for me.

Hmm. Golf trip, avoided the snow, and dolphins? Hope you're planning something special for the Mrs., lest she greet you with a frying pan in hand. ;-)

Funny. :-)
Anybody else get like 3 feet of snow last night?
We got 3" of snow, then pouring rain all night. Still raining right now and it's supposed to drop to single digits tonight. Nowhere for a lot of the water to run off because the storm drains are blocked from the last snow. Tomorrow morning's commute is going to be interesting.

They're warning about flash freezing conditions. Here are some pictures of the front of my house: You can't really tell from the first picture, but that water is about 2-3" deep in the road because the storm drain is blocked off. Everything is going to freeze solid overnight.

It's supposed to be 41 on Wednesday, so the sun might take care of a lot of it. It's just tomorrow that will be a mess. I'd rather it just snowed, because the rain/sleet icy conditions are awful. NJ weather is always interesting.

In the winter, I'd like nothing more than a nice 40° day with a torrential downpour of rain. Clears snow and ice right up. Hopefully we get one soon, but it's looking like snow and more snow here in NY.

    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
