@iacas and @RandallT, something does look off.  I played a quick 9 holes last night, and GG thinks I was the best putter in the world. (I had one good putt--the rest were about my usual.)

Interesting! I played last week so I'll hafta go back and see if there were oddities.

But now that we have seen two rounds with putting numbers like that, we have a good reason to dive deeper.

I'm out and about but will take a look tonight. @Alx- might still be good to send me your round info.  Might be a general issue but also might be something particular to something you two have submitted in common (9-hole round? Who knows).

I took a look at other recent rounds.  Same problem with May 1, but April 30 looks okay.

@Missouri Swede

I reviewed the above round and it appears you need to edit the rounds for accuracy of "Pin Locations" in relevance to the shots recorded.
Many of the holes indicate the putts distance do not seem correct, or in proper order.

An Example - On the first hole, the third shot was a putt with a distance of 5ft then the fourth shot was 23 feet.
Game Golf uses the last putts made on a hole for the statistics which is probably why it indicates a (-7.7) for the round.
I only reviewed a few holes but they have unusual "Order and Distances" which create improper stats.

That's not quite correct. It uses the location of the first putt and the distance from there to the hole. If it only used the last putt you could seven-putt but still end up gaining part of a stroke or something.

But yeah, did you goof up on some of those things, @Missouri Swede, in the rounds with goofy data?

That's an early 2015 round--when they told us not to bother with putt distances.  When they came out with SG later on, I started to pay attention to it.

I may occasionally miss one when editing, but I try to get it pretty close.  For yesterday:
Hole 1: 26 ft, 2 ft, 1 ft
Hole 2: 5 ft, 2 ft
Hole 3: 6 yards (from off green with putter), 6 ft
Hole 4: 45 ft, 4 ft
Hole 5: 5 ft, 1 ft
Hole 6: 8 ft, 1 ft
Hole 7: 23 ft, 2 ft
Hole 8: 19 ft (Yep, drained it from half-way across the green.  "Even a blind squirrel," and all that)
Hole 9: 14 ft, 2 ft

So most of these look about right to me.

Edit: @iacas, as above.  The round from May 1 was a practice 9-hole round at a local executive course with a temporary green on one hole, and I didn't post it to my stats or make it public, but even taking the data as I entered it (4-putting one one hole!, with 19 putts overall--blegh!) GG is giving me -4.94 SG for putting for May 1.  The round from May 2 is above, and some of my 2-footers might be 3, and some of my 1 footers were tap-ins, but they're pretty close overall.  Certainly not enough to give me -7.77 against a scratch golfer.

Well, not to nit-pick, but they never really said not to bother, and I've always entered them carefully… Putt distances have always mattered.

Give me the URLs to those rounds and I'll pass them on to GG and see what they say. PM them or post them here, and make it clear which was the -4.94 and which was the -7.77 round.

Good deal.

May 2 (showing the -7.77 putting SG): http://www.gamegolf.com/player/formalin1/round/1555970

May 1--I edited the status so it's public for the time being (showing -4.94 putting SG): http://www.gamegolf.com/player/formalin1/round/1549213

If I select the ten rounds previous to those two, I get +3.88 putting SG vs scratch.

That's actually pretty cool that they keep track of this thread here and the feedback people are leaving, even if there are currently only two people having the issue in that location.

To the GAME GOLF folks, if you're reading this: well done! That's some pretty impressive customer service right there. Also, if you could just make some new tags with gyroscopes or something in them to guarantee a perfect swing each time no matter what club they're on... :-D

Yeah, really.  I've been impressed with both the product and the customer support.

That's a pretty nice response time. I knew something was off.

@iacas @RandallTThis looks much more like it. It's the infamous 100/0/0 practice split showing results :-D.

I'm wondering if anyone here knows whether This Game Golf Tag Set on Amazon will work as replacement tags for my Game Golf Live.  My bag was stolen (have a thread here and elsewhere on the off chance someone comes across my gear), which of course included most of my tags.  I had a really poor experience with the actual Game Golf replacement tag store earlier this year replacing some tags that had come off due to the softness of the Star Grips that I use (am now supergluing my tags to my grips, lol).  Plus, on the official Game Golf store, a set of tags is $100 plus shipping and these are under $50 shipped.

Granted, I already ordered them - since it's Amazon, I know I can return them if they don't work - but it would be nice if anyone could confirm positively that these will do the trick.  There's conflicting answers on the Amazon listing...

They should work. If I needed a replacement set and saw them, I would have ordered them too.

Yeah it's the same set. There's nothing special about the tags.

On the college team I coach, if someone forgets their putter because they hit to gimme range on a shot, they'll use someone else's putter to tag the shot, sometimes. Or we'll goof around and tag each other's belt unit with our clubs when we're standing around or we walk past someone… ;-)

Heh, never thought of that.  I might have to mess with my wife and tag her in random spots.  (Yes, I realize that definitely has multiple meanings, lol!)

So I think I knew this already, but I saw today that GameGolf counts all shots within 100 yards as short game... which for me includes full swings with my two shortest wedges.  I wonder how much of my shots lost: short game are due to these.

But I do need to practice flighting wedges and pitching -- I missed a green yesterday from 60 yards out (yes, I know pros miss from here sometimes too) and had a GIR that was 30' from the pin even though I was only 50 yards out for that pitch.  Things I can do better!

I wish they'd give us a breakdown of where the "short game" shots are lost.  Clearly these are strokes lost in the short game as far as GG is concerned (I did save par in both of the above examples, one by a good chip and a putt and the other by a really good putt from 30').

Funny aside:  when comparing myself to a 15 handicap (I'm 14.x at the moment), I lost the most strokes to putting;  my only other strokes lost are "short game."   Compare to a 10?  I lose .7 strokes more putting than short game, only .21 off the tee, and gain on approach.    I lose in all categories compared to a 5, but the most in putting.

But compared to scratch?  The only place I lose fewer strokes than putting is off the tee.

Really does back up the statistics about where I could train to compete against a pro.

I have used the Game Golf app and without the tags thought it was too much of a bother.  Today I received an email from them for 33% off for a total of $99.98.   I'm still not sure I need or want it but thought I'd pass on the notice.
