Masters - Ryder Cup.

That said, I also have a great fondness for the US Open.

Masters and the US Open.  I love watching the amatuers in both, and I especially enjoy the extremely difficult set-up in the Open.

The fact that it falls over Fathers Day weekend means I have a free pass to watch and play as much golf as I like too.

Oh man.  Got my first kid on the way.  Never thought about how Fathers Day will give me a free pass to do as much golf related activity as I like!

The Masters. Mostly because it's the first Major of the year and sort of signals that Spring is here. There's also a certain attachment and familiarity to the course for me because it's played there every year.

It's the only golf tournament that I would pass up my own round of golf to stay home and watch if there was no such thing as a DVR.

1.) Masters (the true American National Championship), 2.) The Open (the one across the pond) and 3.) Can I say "Ryder Cup"?

never watch the u.s. open, would rather watch a golf tournament. if I want to watch players hack and hope the ball down the fairway I'll go to the local municipal.

Besides the majors and the Ryder Cup, I've always loved watching the John Deere Classic. Maybe it's because it always takes place during the height of July, the height of summer? Plus the event has produced some great finishes over the past few years: Stricker's threepeat, Zach Johnson winning in a playoff, Jordan Spieth's breakthrough win, and Kenny Perry's win in 2008.

Lots of great entertainment from that event. I try not to miss it.

My favorite major is the Masters though.

The AT&T; and the Masters, the first just because it's the one I'm the most familiar with and have been to it since it was the "Crosby" probably 10 times at least, the Masters to me is the kickoff of the golf season and I try to never miss it.

The Masters, closely followed by The Open (the real one :) ) Non majors: has to be the Irish Open for me, as I get to watch that whilst being at the event. Watching the Ryder Cup is my highlight of all golf viewing though.

Those snooty brits...

Reminds me of "The" Ohio State University.

'The' Open was first played 35 years before the US Open, calling it the British Open would have been redundant.

Anyway, for me it would be

Ryder Cup

Masters

The Open

PGA Championship (UK)

Masters, US Open, the Open, Pga championship and TPC Boston's Deutchebank championship, those are what I look forward to......The ones I don't care for are some of the lame tourneys with minus 20+ as the winning score

As most have stated, you can't really beat The Masters, particularly for these reasons:

  • It's at the same course every year, so everyone is intimately familiar with the course
  • Minimal commercials
  • They set the course up for scoring on Sunday, making the drama unparalleled.

Personally, I always love The British because you just get up Sunday morning, grab some breakfast and sit down for 6 hours of golf.  Plus the links style of play is something you don't see at any other (non Euro Tour) event.

Masters and Torrey or Pebble.

That's my vote as well. British Open next because it's usually the truest test, IMO. Let the weather decide except when they bastardize a course. I do love the US Open, but feel the harsh setup takes away from the drama since so many people are out of it since it's hard to make up shots. Great tourney, but they go too far, too often. I love watching the west coast swing.

Excluding majors I love watching the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. It seems like such a relaxed event, as if you were watching a group of buds heading out for a few rounds. And it's played over some pretty cool courses and later in the season, so it all adds to that vibe.

For majors, it's The Open. I find it much more interesting as links golf demands more creativity and it's always interesting to see your favourite pros taking non-typical shots. You just don't get to see that depth of the player too often in other tournaments. Plus there's the history behind it which is cool.
