The way the announcers were speaking, I'd say there were a number of mis-hits and people getting a little too aggressive, trying to cut down the distance on their 2nd shots.

That's what I was thinking too.  Zack Johnson went in and he never seems to make that mistake.

Zack was definitely trying to do that because he was paired with DJ.  On most 2nd shots, Zack was 30 - 50 yards behind DJ and was getting frustrated.

"The best player ever to live when I was growing up wore black pants, a red shirt," Reed said. "I was growing up watching him. I always thought, `You know, it would be cool to wear black and red coming down on Sunday. Just happens to be that we both wear it on Sunday now." - Patrick Reed Ergh.....

Okay, THAT bothers me. "We both wear it now." Get bent. I'd be curious to see what the other players on tour have to say about this guy.. Count me in as a hater now.

LOL this guy definitely needs to hire a PR person...he must be a little slow in the head, for real. As annoying as he is, I'll be stoked he's on the Ryder Cup team if he's still playing this well.

That's true this guy might be made for the Ryder Cup. PS I'm not a hater, because we may have a new guy with a personality and not a PR honed talking head. And I'm waiting for the day when Reed and Woods are paired on the final twosome on Sunday. The Tiger fanatics will be foaming at the mouth, if they're not already. Two guys dressed in red and black going head to head, ego to ego. That will be something.

You'd think Zach would be used to being first to hit from the fairway by now. It's not like he's spent the last ten years paired with Fred Funk and Corey Pavin.

Good point, but there was one hole where they were pretty far apart and when Zach saw what club DJ was using, Miller commented that Zach said "You've got to be kidding me".

Good chance Reed poops his TW Underoos in that scenario. Kudos on the win but nobody really put much pressure on him in the final round and back nine and he did start to hit some pretty sketchy tee shots even without a "Tiger" breathing down his neck. No knocking his talent, he beat the field but it's not like he buried the competition.

Yours in earnest, Jason.

If nobody put pressure on you for the entire final round, isn't that kind of the definition of "burying the competition?"

I wouldn't call a 1 shot margin burying the competition, no. He shot even par and got the job done. Like I said, kudos, but let's not get carried away.

Well, more like 1 1/2 seeing as how he basically "intentionally" bogied 18. But let me ask you this: what's the difference between playing well to the point that you afford yourself the luxury of making a couple of bogeys on the final few holes vs. if you get sloppy early, allow people to catch you, then make a birdie on one of the last holes to win? Is it really any different? Either way, it's a win. Dude beat the strongest field of the year and cruised for about the entire final round. I'm not getting "carried away" here, but he deserves some props.

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
