Because he insists on saying that religious people are weak.  I'm not religious at all, but I find that to be incredibly insulting.

I don't know if you have read the bible or not, but this is a common topic throughout.

Yes you could - but how weak of a person do you have to be to praise and thank god for your success, rather than admitting that you put the hard work in, and the accomplishment is your own that you achieved. You did it, not god.

I almost feel a sense of sadness when I see guys praise their deity after winning, then the next week, where they miss the cut, the blame immediately shifts to themselves. All I get from that is 'All good comes from God, all failures are my own'. What a self deprecating lifestyle.

BTW, Ernie Els is a nut for thinking 2 birdies can not come from a golf ball . There is solid evidence that more than one birdie can come from a golf ball ( maybe not in my golf game but I digress ). There is no such solid evidence of a deity.

They are not even in the same ballpark, not comparable.

I have no problem with a person admitting they require faith to get through life, but for Christs sake ( see what I did there ), credit yourself once in a while.

I'm agnostic but I disagree with you that it's weak, imo, it's being humble and grateful.

Whether you believe a god or alien or random events put us on earth as humans you have to agree that through some sort of entity outside our control (god, luck) some are living a more fortunate life than others.  When a guy sinks a putt for $1M + doing what he loves while his family and friends watch it has to be an amazing and emotional event in their life.  It's times like that where you have to feel humbled and thankful that you're in a position to experience such a moment.  To simply thank their god seems more appropriate than boasting that you won simply because you're an amazing athlete that works really hard, etc.

Do I want golfers to go beyond thanking their god and continue with a sermon, no, but thanking some higher power for the opportunity to experience such a moment doesn't seem weak to me.

Peoples religious beliefs are there own so if you don't like a Golfer for what they believe in you should keep it to your self!

It is insulting.

Many "strong" people in history were religious.  USA's founding fathers...

Who gives a flying f*** whether someone's religious or not? People are entitled to opinions both for and against and there will always be people offended one way or other. The End.

Okay for the second time, let's get back on track and avoid the religious stuff.

Guy who I can't stand recently is Bubba Watson, really don't like how he treats his caddy by scolding him or giving him the stink eye after every missed putt, or a shot that isn't the perfect yardage. Dude, take some responsibility for yourself.

Isn't this interesting. A guy (Simpson, Streelman, others) credits someone or something outside of himself and is considered him a jerk.  Another guy credits himself (Reed) and is considered a jerk. And if a guy said absolutely nothing to an interviewer, he would be considered a jerk. Seems there is no way to satisfy everybody. So maybe they should just continue on, and let the rabble discuss their behavior on the internet.

History has proven this time and time again, and that's why the IDGAF (I don't give a $@$) movement was created.

Edit: I don't really care to watch Sabbatini... and Poulter, mainly for his most recent stunt with Matsuyama. Grown men handle their beef in person, not on social media.

i'd have to say lee westwood, for an incident in the 2008 pga championship that i witnessed live. on the #11 hole, he hit his drive into the left rough, which was high to say the least, and he couldn't get it out. instead of taking his lumps, he blamed a fan which was part of the throng following phil down the adjacent fairway. he later complained in the press that the course setup was unfair, which led to his bad round and missing the cut. ironically, we tend to look at westwood as one of the nice/good guys on tour. he may still be, but my impression of him is definitely left of that.

I would have to say the European Ryder Cup team .  Individually they all appear to be pretty nice fellas who were born somewhere else, but live in Florida now and are really Americans now by most definitions.  But when they get together, they act very arrogant and are insufferable when they win.

The discussion about Patrick Reed got me thinking: who are some generally popular players who you, personally, just can't stand?  (Guys like Sabbatini and Sergio don't count since they are pretty much universally despised.)

My nomination would be Bubba Watson.  Although his popularity has certainly taken a hit recently, I think he's still one of those guys who fans -- especially casual fans -- like.  But he just strikes me as a petulant little cry baby, and, yeah, I have a problem with a guy who is proud to drive a car with a Confederate flag painted on the top (I don't care if it was in a TV show at some point).

Oh my, how times have changed.  McDonalds had a "General Lee" happy meal.  Does this really bother you?

FTW, I am not a bubba fan either.

Came in to say Bubba.  I didn't dislike him when he first started making his name on the tour, but after hearing some of the stuff he's blamed his caddy for, and the way he talks to people on the course, not a fan.  Just the way he handles his emotions bothers me.

I'm not mildly interested in discussing religion, but what bothers me is that he cries and thanks god when he wins, and when things don't go his way, he acts like a real jerk and blames everyone.  That's what really bothers me about him.  You can't have it both ways. Either be gracious in winning or losing, or just be a jerk full time.
