Might be wrong but I love seeing Adam Scott falter, especially when it's that long thing he calls a putter that fails him.

From everything I've heard, he seems like a really good guy but I just can't root for him while he uses that long thing.

To be fair, you may recall, Adam wasn't feeling all that great earlier in the week, then he said he felt better Sat. well that ugly feeling may have come back to haunt him today. I haven't watched the last round, so he may have said that he wasn't 100%.. There's only a couple of guys I don't want to win, but I never like to see a good player falter. Just my 3 cents.

I liked Scott more before Williams was his caddy.  I know the greens were tough today but I think the long putters work against guys on the shorter putts.  Bradley missed a few too, which might have cost him the tournament.

Don't really care about being fair, to be honest.

You said that there's only a couple of guys that you don't want to win.  Me, too.  One of those guys for me is Adam Scott and if it's because he falters, then so be it.

I also find it super annoying how the announcers gush over him like he's the best thing that has ever happened to the game.

I know I was annoyed at the announcers too! They couldn't stop talking about he blew that 8 stroke lead. They didn't even show Matt Every when he went up by 3 shots. They kept showing the long putter group Bradly & Scott. They both played horrible today, they were missing short putts.

Good for Every. I really liked his attitude and demeanor today. Seems like this year of newbies winning is just going to continue and continue. Wonder if the majors will also be random wins. Even the younger top players aren't really winning this year. Just an odd year.

Not at all I was just curious. Hes solid I wonder how he will do without being able to anchor the putter?

Not quite sure what you're trying to suggest with your post.  It's obvious that Adam Scott is talented, anyone that denies that is just fooling themselves because you don't get to #2 in the world without talent.

That being said, I just have never been a fan of national announcers gushing over players, and it's not just in golf.  Didn't like it when they would do it with Michael Jordan in basketball and don't like it when they do it with Sidney Crosby in the hockey and don't get me started with some of the announcers of NFL games.  In sports where you have a home media market, it's a little more understandable because 95% of people watching are rooting for the home media market team, but in national telecasts, it annoys me to no end.

He can't be much worst without a long putter than with one. I wouldn't be surprised if he switched to a short putter if he putts poorly in the Master's. He won the Player's in 2004 using a short stick.

I heard them saying this morning that he intends to still use the long putter but hold it away from his chest. We had a discussion here on TST one day about that technique but I'm unconvinced that it's as reliable a technique as just going back to a conventional putter. Then again it may work great. Who knows? ;-)

After today, he might change his mind.

BTW, RFK, I agree 100% with you re: announcers gushing over players from all sports.

    • It's going to be very difficult for the 2026 Masters to match the 2025 edition for storyline. I honestly don't know that anyone else in the field could match the story of Rory finally winning after so many years and the blow ups over the years, not to mention the career slam being completed. No one this year that I can think of is remotely close to that kind of story. Combine that with the attempts at blow ups last year (Double on the 1st, 13, 18 on first try) and the stunningly good shots that he hit in the final round (7, 15, 17, 18 on second try).  Full gamut: https://www.masters.com/en_US/watch/2025-04-13/17445961638226475/every_single_shot_from_rory_mcilroys_final_round.html
    • Let's kick off the 2026 Masters talk with… a look back at 2025 (coming soon):
    • Wow, so Europe named Luke for a third term. Luke Donald named 2027 European Ryder Cup Captain Luke Donald named 2027 European Ryder Cup Captain Who will the U.S. name? I hope not Tiger Woods.
    • I am playing Arrowhead for the first time and I am pumped.  What are some things that I need to make sure and appreciate, for those that have played it before and love it? It has been a pretty dry winter so I am expecting rough to be forgiving which is nice and it will be playing much easier than it does in the late summer (I am assuming based on other colorado courses).  What should I make sure to not miss?
