Can I assume that if one makes the cut then they get paid, and if they miss the cut they'll be lucky to get a free sandwich on Saturday? Also, if they don't make the cut can they still come back on the weekend as a patron/spectator? Just curious, based on the following link: http://www.augusta.com/content/2013-masters-prize-money

You called that somebody might get to -7 and I thought u were nuts :). I still do actually. Hahaha

And that the cut would be +3 or +4. :-P

And yesterday somebody (you maybe?) said that the winner will finish Sunday at -6 or -7 (which is still very much in the picture) and I said -8.

It's a small consolation to be able to make fairly decent educated guesses on this ... because when a driver is on the line (or in another contest I'm in, a free round of golf) I do things like pick Zach Johnson and Sergio Garcia to win. :bugout:

That's what I always assumed.  Just the other day though, I noticed that in the US Open, pros get 2k no matter what. https://champs.usga.org/EntryForms/usopen_2014.pdf

Certainly The Masters has its own rules, but I still thought that was interesting.  It doesn't even say anything about missing the cut, it just says "pros who start but don't return scores for 72 holes" so I guess even a WD gets you 2,000.

Spieth bogeyed 11 and had the honor on 12.  That hole is nuts.  (They should just call it a par 5 and call 13 a par 4 ... it would make more sense)

Wow, what a fantastic break Rory just got!

No wonder they score better than me- I never get those f*cking breaks.

If that was my ball, it would be buried in a wild boars ass sitting in the thistles.

What if a viewer calls in a penalty on Bubba like last year with Tiger. The committee reviews it and decides at 10 am to assess Bubba 2 strokes. Voila, the cut is +5. But the golfers at +5 have all left town.

Memo to Patrick Reed: Before you talk the talk, you better walk the walk.  If you don't, prepare to make a lot of enemies, which he is doing.

Rory in the flower bed.

LOL! It's sick that they do not cover the ''water-locks'' with false gras mats or something, in a tournament like master! Or in PGA tour at that matter.......Stupid

Not exactly a picture perfect leaderboard like we've seen in past years, but nevertheless, should be an interesting weekend. Gotta like Bubba's chances given the fact he's got a green jacket already. Lot of solid vets like Bjorn and Couples mixed in with Cinderellas like Blixt and Senden. And then there's Adam Scott just lurking right there.

I had Russel Henley on my list of longshots and I'm hoping he can pull it off. I put a 5 dollar bet on him to win 700 at the beginning of the week and he's sneaking up the leaderboard.

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
