Just don't top it, or chunk it on the first hole

I've had more trouble with hitting push/push fades lately or pull/pull draws..... But, with an iron that shouldn't really give me too much trouble.

I hope

The issue is with swing changes, you tend to forget to hit the shot softer or harder than you want. Some of those par 3's might be interesting, lets say your group chooses a 5 iron, and you need to hit that 135 yards on the 2nd hole. :-P Clubbing down 50 yards or more is going to be fun!!

I've never been good at hitting varying distances with a single club, that really strikes me as more of something you start working on when you have a good solid swing. I'll just grip way down and try my best on those short shots.

Seems to me, a good way to build the one club team is to pick players who hit the ball different lengths, so you'd have a wide range of distances covered by one club.

Ooooh... Everybody would want me...  I could be the "short" guy.

Well I WOULD pick you, but I think teams are limited to those who will be in the same state ;-)

Hmm maybe I'll post lots of pictures and restrict you from the thread so you can't see them :-D But yea, these things always seemed like fun, that's why I joined in. You should too, next time.

One of the main principles of LSW - being closer to the hole before your shot leaves you closer to the hole after your shot - kind of goes out the window with a format like this, wouldn't you think?  Certainly I'll get closer to the hole from 90 with a LW than I will from 165 with a 7 iron ... but I would think that on average I probably would not get closer to the hole from 90 with a 7 iron than I would from 165 with a 7 iron.

(I only picked 7 iron because, off the top of my head, it seems the club that would be the most versatile.)

Two Important Notes (and some miscellaneous stuff):

  1. Where to Park on Saturday - Apparently this weekend is We Love Erie Days. So, part of the street is blocked off. There is a parking garage that we would ask everyone to park in. The entrance is located on 10th street, so you'll want to come around the "back side" kind of like I've illustrated below. Pull in, park, and we'll give you a validation ticket so you can just exit free later that evening.
  2. $150 Cash - We have to pay the course, each other, etc. so please bring $150 in cash. The fee is the same for everyone and includes everything for the weekend. If I've worked out any special situations with you (i.e. a few of the local guys are skipping the Saturday evening one-club challenge thing), PM me to confirm, please.

Again, if you do not have my cell #, please PM me and I will get it to you. Please stay in touch if anything comes up on Saturday. Thank you.

Parking Maps:

This one shows the parking authority (the garage) and Golf Evolution:

This shows the route you'll likely want to take to get into the garage. French Street is one way, so you will go down past Holland and make two lefts to get to the garage. Golf Evolution is right beside the Playhouse on the corner of 10th and State.

You can check in at your hotel then to confirm that you're still coming when you arrive downtown.

Please arrive between 12:30 and 1pm. If you are there before 12:30, you may not be able to get in, as we may not be there yet.

Finally, we have a "reservation" at Outback at 9pm on Saturday. It's about 3-4 miles from Whispering Woods and the hotel in which most of you are staying.

BTW, I think @mvmac and I will play as a team in the scramble, and if we win, y'all can split our meals.

We'll be at a disadvantage because we're only two players versus three or four.

Yeah, you guys are at a disadvantage...lol. And Tiger would be at a disadvantage against me and 3 of my friends in a scramble lol

Tiger is not winning a scramble by himself. Guys regularly shoot -16 to -20 or so in those things.

I have not hit balls at Golf Evolution before, or any other indoor facility for that matter (other than the crappy mats at the Family First dome).  What type of footwear works best on the hitting mats at Golf Evolution?  Soft spikes, spikeless golf shoes, regular sneakers, or something else?
