Someone needs to tell Lucy to back off on the sunscreen caked all over her face.

I don't know who that someone should be, but I do know who it won't be:

The dermatologists that are all too busy removing moles and cancer cells from those of us dumbos who DON'T slather ourselves in sunscreen every time we go bake in the sun for 6 hours at a time.

Lol, yeah she's got a lot on... I think it's a cultural thing to make sure the face doesn't get too tanned...

It's funny, when I saw the white face, I totally pictured Lucy's mom attacking her with a tube of sunblock as she walked off the range towards the first tee.

Mom:  "Lucy--hold still you have to reapply before you tee off."

Lucy:  "Mo-om!  Stop!  You're embarrasing me!  This is the US Open.  You don't see Stacy Lewis's mom rubbing sunblock all over her face every 20 minutes."

That made me laugh just picturing it. I guess she's just the opposite of Phil Mickelson, who was noted in another thread for how lobster red his face was.

Cool photo side by side. And whoever in Edel got Lucy Li to endorse it/wear the visor - deserves a bonus. Smart marketing move.

Lexi making a mess of it now. I can't figure why she tried to putt out of a divot.

Should have played her original lie anyway.

Just caught the end of it where the rules official appears to be telling her she has to drop in the drop zone.

Did she have a choice (I'd imagine she would) of not electing to use the drop zone?

No she had the choice and the drop zone was slightly closer. The rules official was just advising her that she had that option since her foot was over the line.

Once she dropped into a divot it just seemed like she didn't re-evaluate and stayed with her intention of putting it. I was surprised that her caddy didn't try to talk her out of it.

Hmmm, definitely foreseeing wrist/elbow issues at some point in her future... Hope I'm wrong though obviously. Ouch.

Agreed. I cringed big time when I saw that vid...all I could feel was...PAIN!  Still, I hope Lexi, and Michelle are the 2 that fight for the win...

I think it will go down as the worst drop in Pro golf ever.

The drop zone sloped away from the green and was about 1.5 yards wide, there were divots about 12 inches from the higher elevation side of the circle.

I am no physicist but my basic understanding of gravity would mean that a ball dropped on the upside of the divots was going to always roll into them.

She could have dropped the ball behind the divots and had a perfect lie. Since the ball was always going to land in a divot she should not have putted.

I thought the same thing but if she dropped behind the divots she would have had to putt over them. It just seemed that she was so intent on putting that ball that it clouded her reasoning.

She was going to putt the ball from the original lie and it's like that mindset never changed. When she took her original stance the rules official told her if that was her stance and she was going to putt the ball she could take a drop. She said "Yeah I'm going to putt it."

Maybe she thought since she told him she was going to putt the ball that she had to putt the ball even after the drop? (Surely not but all of it made me wonder).

She was upset that the ball went in the divot hole but made no re-evaluation.

Agree completely. I couldn't believe she was going to putt the 1st one after her screw up with the putter on previous hole. Then when it fell into the divot, just couldn't believe she didnt reach for an 8I. Nuts. Those 2 holes took her out of the championship. Great putt on 18 though. Go Michelle!

Looking at the leaderboard at http://www.usopen.com/women/en_US/scoring/index.html is weird since they have them all out of order. T5 is listed right after first place (before Stacy Lewis made birdie), and the T2 was about 4 spots down the list. Refreshing the page helped a bit, but there's still a few odd ones likely because their position changed, but the scores haven't updated quite yet.

    • Day 118 - Spent some time working on the full swing. Need to film some swings for Evolvr tomorrow.
    • playing with cleveland hybrid irons have friends that use hybrids anyone using hybrid irons or hybrids would appreciate fwwdback
    • I dont know if I really have a favorite, but there are two that have stuck in my mind for a very long time. #15 at Erie Golf course during the Finals of the EDGA Matchplay. Was up early and then lost a few holes in row so the match was close again. My opponent had a short putt for birdie. I hit past hole high, but 35 feet right. I drained the putt and looked over at my opponent who was in disbelief.   #8 at Whispering Woods during another year of the EDGA Matchplay. Was playing a very cocky opponent who made sure to mention on the first tee how many times he won the club championship at this course. I hammered this 30 footer that clanked off of the pin and dropped. My opponent was disgusted and that made me weirdly happy. I went on to win 5&3 or something like that, so that entire day has stayed in my memory.
    • Day 20: Did 30 minutes after getting home from work, before kid's baseball practice. This session was piecing out the new hip move in transition, doing 2-3 rehearsals from the top, and then hitting a ball from between P5/P6. Did another 45 minutes after baseball practice and dinner. Did 30 more minutes of what I did earlier, and then about 15 minutes of full swings trying to incorporate athletically.
    • Day 296: did a stack session.
