Had a good range session today working in some changes from my lesson last week, namely not shifting my weight onto the back foot.   Between sticking a pool noodle on an alignment stick on left hip and and stick parallel to my target, was actually able to get a chunk to fly close to where I thought I was sending them.   That's what I want to end up with, somethings consistent I can play with.

Took more divots infront of the ball than behind and left the range with out a ton of should pain from hitting fat shots so it was a consistent win.

We'll see how it translates to a course on Friday but I'd like to make my 95 from last week a repeatable thing.

Had a little bit of a let down round after the great one yesterday 54 in 53 out for a 107.  Triples and a quad really reminded me how important it is to not let the bad holes get to you.  Again, my short game let me down numerous times. And there were a lot of par opportunities squandered.

I'm not going to dwell on it too much, hopefully.  Just get back out there as soon as i can, make the best swings as possible, and make the smart, safe play over the low percentage hero shot.

Last 4 rounds of golf:  98, 96, 97, 106

I don't know what happened but I did nothing right from beginning to end...

played 9, shot a 54, but that was with a completely cold opening hole of 8 on a par three, to try and move fast to get ahead, sure it's an excuse but hey whatever.

After that it got better. It was my first full 9 working on the grip lesson from Hogan's lessons. It's starting to feel comfortable and my ball striking felt much better. Came back after 9 and played 1 again and it was the best I've ever played that hole.

Then went to range and was striping the ball like a mad-man. All the work is about to pay off, I think in two revisions my HC will start heading down.

The hardest part is taking it from the range to the Course....thats been the hardest part for me...but being able to practice with a decent Golf Simulator that tells me if my swing is striaght, inside out, sliceing, open, closed, etc, has helped tremendously...this has helped cut my +100 scores down to low 90's...

Which simulator do you practice with?

Nike: Covert 2.0 Irons (R), Covert 2.0 3h (R), X3X 56* & 60* wedges, Method putter

Cobra: Bio Cell 4/5h (R), Bio CellDriver (S)

Lloyd ,

I bought an Optishot LED swing and software analyzer a few years ago...I have a 27" monitor and a windows Laptop with the software on it..I have a den I use for my office with high ceilings, and use it there..it works well if you have Florescent or natural white lights and silver/chrome clubs..as the infra-red LED's can reflect the lite from the clubs ...If it works in your environment, it will give reasonable results for swing speed, distance, flight path, direction, and impact and tempo...when I first started using it again, 2 months ago, I was pulling shots either right or left...the left shots were over the top, outside in and down the left side...The right slices were also a result of the outside in causing the ball to rotate to the right...working with the Optishot, and a swing coach...I have slowly gotten the swing to either be straight or inside out, depending on how long I practice as my body quits turning correctly after a couple of hrs off and on during the day...for teh first month I just used the driving range..to get my swing changed..and to make the pieces of the swing 2nd nature...my two issues were a straight left arm, distance from the ball, and my hip/shoulders not turning...as of now, 95% of my shots are either draws or straight lines..no slices, no pulls, no over the tops..

New to the board.  Took up golf out of college then took last year off.  Picked it up again this spring played about 10-12 times this year.  Roommate is a former golf pro and 4 or 5 handicap trying to help me not duff my way across the courses of Northeast Florida.  Best score so far was in the 120's, but I have fun and it gives me something to do.

I missed this year.  Had to fly back home to Indiana for a friends wedding.  Really made me question how good of a friend he was. ;-)

Played 9 today and shot a 58. And now I'm going to whine. I practice everyday and I'm not getting any better . I suck at golf and golf is hard.

Under construction, signature and game.

Okay, we all have good areas and bad areas...where are the high scores coming from ? The big swings, the small swings, or a combination ? Golf is very hard without natural ability..and your practice needs to address and work on what will make you better...practicing the same wrong move wont fix anything..I practice 2hrs each day, but until I got some instruction on how to fix my old, horrible swing, nothing got better...after 3 years of working with a coach, and practicing at home each day...I have improved finally from 110 to around 90 or so..and have a consistant swing I can play with...

I broke 100 3 rounds in a row, then shot a 106...Played again today and the planets must have been aligned right--I shot an 86.  No 7's or 8's...

    • I dont know if I really have a favorite, but there are two that have stuck in my mind for a very long time. #15 at Erie Golf course during the Finals of the EDGA Matchplay. Was up early and then lost a few holes in row so the match was close again. My opponent had a short putt for birdie. I hit past hole high, but 35 feet right. I drained the putt and looked over at my opponent who was in disbelief.   #8 at Whispering Woods during another year of the EDGA Matchplay. Was playing a very cocky opponent who made sure to mention on the first tee how many times he won the club championship at this course. I hammered this 30 footer that clanked off of the pin and dropped. My opponent was disgusted and that made me weirdly happy. I went on to win 5&3 or something like that, so that entire day has stayed in my memory.
    • Day 20: Did 30 minutes after getting home from work, before kid's baseball practice. This session was piecing out the new hip move in transition, doing 2-3 rehearsals from the top, and then hitting a ball from between P5/P6. Did another 45 minutes after baseball practice and dinner. Did 30 more minutes of what I did earlier, and then about 15 minutes of full swings trying to incorporate athletically.
    • Day 296: did a stack session.
