welcome Gary. I am in Escondido. Mostly a loner, but open to impromptu round with like minded souls. I am 74, current index 22.9. Play usually in North County Castle Creek, Vineyard, Eagles Crest, San Clemente uni, Hidden Meadows, MCAS Miramar. Have never played Goat Hill, but looks like I should check it out. I probably should be using forward tees, but can't seem to bring myself to move up from the whites.
I will certainly check out Albion Ridges, the pictures on their website look amazing! Annandale isn't that far, we play them in High School Football more or less every year so I've made my way down there from time to time. Thanks for the recommendation!
Lots to be said for this. I think my swing is getting there. I practice daily and methodically hitting hundreds of balls and have noticed improvements in consistency. Neighbors have not complained, but I imagine that steady sound of "Click, thump" as the ball hits a vinyl target can be annoying. Reminds me of the movie "The Great Escape" and how during his (Steve Macqueen's) captivity would spend hours throwing a baseball into the wall, bouncing back into his glove. Anyway, I really don't have to think about it much as the swing is more or less automatic but I can pay attention and work on "finer" points.
Well for the sake of comparison, Bobby Jones played his best Major ever at St. Andrews in 1927. he shot a 285, six strokes better than his closest competitor. Tiger played his best major ever at St. Andrews in 2000** and shot a 270, eight strokes better than his nearest competitor.
It would be hard to argue that Jones was better based on this comparison. obviously the total score was way better, but that can be attributed to equipment. when you factor it in with margin of victory, Tiger's top end was just better. and, looking at Tiger's 2000, I can't imagine anyone could be as consistently good.
**I chose 2000 St. Andrews for comparison sake. I actually think his 1997 masters was better..
