Using Android? I thought you knew that already. :)

Nope. I've never really been into electronics.

There was a problem with my order so I didn't get it last week but it should arrive today.  Can't wait to give this thing a try.

Maybe I'm missing something, but is there really no 'scorecard view' that shows Score, FairwayHit, GIR, putts, for a round? The round summary gives averages (and the round-review before posting shows at least some of that data) but I can't find a way to glance back at a previous round?

One other thing I'd love to see is a way to look at per-hole performance across rounds (what is my GIR% on this hole this year? driving average? scoring average?). They have basic Par 3, par 4, par 5 scoring average stuff, but for people who play >50% of their rounds on the same home course being able to drill down and analyze particular holes would be of significant value.

I can't find one that lists everything hole-by-hole like it does when you are editing.  But you can see the total (percentage) of each of those categories on the "my rounds" page.

The biggest strength is that all the data/info is there.

The biggest weakness is that it's not fully presented.

Understandably but sadly they are busy adding thing like challenges when I think your average user who picks GameGolf up wants stats and information/feedback on their game.

You still have to use your laser/gps to judge distance to the hole?

Yes. It's not for that.

Ok thanks, it is interesting though to see distances and directions. Been checking out some (all) of the sandtrap posters rounds and all (most) of the drives I've seen, distance wise are impressive.

I'm gonna have to get a my swing thread going.

I installed everything last night and one thing that strikes me is just how it seems very outdated.  Its a minor thing but I don't remember the last time I bought a device that I had to actually plug into my computer after initial setup.  My fitbit communicates directly with my phone and uploads data automatically.  Hell even my bathroom scale reports my ever increasing weight to my fitbit account online automatically.  This also means I won't really know if its working properly until the round is over.  Again, its not a big deal, it just seems a little clunky.

I'll post a couple rounds this weekend to make you feel better. ;-)

And they probably could have built something for you that would have done that… for an extra $100 or so.

The unit has to be charged. It has to synchronize the data it has with "something." I see it as a good design choice: it's killing two birds with one stone.

Plus, the less "stuff" in it, the less chance one of those things breaks or causes problems. Design is often about simplicity, and about knowing what stuff to say no to, after all.

Bingo, this is it right here.  You should not ever find yourself in same predicament as @saevel25 , who was on the golf course the other day without his GG.  Once you have the time after your round to download the info and start editing your round, you plug it in.  Once you are done editing your round, there is a good chance that it's already finished charging and is ready for your next round.

Sign your round, unplug the device, put it in the pouch and put the pouch back in your bag for the next round.

Simple as can be.

Ain't dat da truth :offtopic: ever since they took the crank handle off the front of the engine, the car has been nutin' but trouble. Just teasin'.

I like simplicity.

ok, so after having played a couple of rounds now with the GG, I was wondering what you do when you play stableford and actually have to pick up the ball? how do you record that?

Simple. It's not built for that. You could delete holes you pick up or add your likely shots to finish. I'd do the latter.

Honestly I am scared of this product. I am not sure I wanted to know how crappy my game really is...

Why? I think it's a great tool and I'm downright awful. I don't think one can have too much information about their game.

I agree but sometimes it hurts to see it in black and white...

Well then good news! It's in color ;-) Seriously, if you're on the fence at all about it, I recommend getting it.

    • Ahh the old classic "nobody agrees with me so I don't want to talk about it anymore"
    • @anaveragehacker, you’ve been ignorant this whole time and now you’re being disrespectful. Not a great combo. You asked what the rules were and we told you. You complained about them and we told you why they were the way they are. The “who is the committee?” Question has been answered a few times. Dave and I are Rules Officials and the other people replying know the rules far better than you, so the fact that we are all disagreeing with you should say something. this thread is going nowhere and your original question has been answered several times.
    • What is this committee I keep hearing about? We’re a small league playing at a county course. And these are temporary issues that may be gone in a day or two. In any case, I wish more people agreed with me. It seems that trying to convince golfers to modernize rules is like trying to change the Bible. You guys are so serious it kind of proves my point. Other sports make adjustments for  field conditions etc during lower level play. This isn’t life and death here, it’s sport. No need to keep arguing. I have my opinion and you have yours.
    • Yeah, I agree that some of the charts are hard to make sense of. That short game chart is showing how often a short game shot ends up within a certain distance. The orange bar is all shots, the green bar is for shots within 25 yards, and the blue bar is for shots between 25 and 50 yards. I just play around with all of it and will figure it out. I would suggest just diving in and see what jumps out and work on that.
    • PGA Tour players weight shift to their lead foot way sooner and to a higher % than amateur. I would say it is something like close to 90% lead foot at impact for PGA Tour player. For Amateurs it could be under 50%. You need to get the weight transfer over more and sooner. You can't rely on the feeling of finishing on the lead foot as validation you did so.
