I could use improvement in every part of my game, especially around the green.  However, driving the ball is a strong point in my game for 12 holes, but the 2 I miss I miss badly typically resulting in a triple or worse.  I attribute this to a loss of focus and not following my pre-shot routine.

You mean outside of a general lack of talent for the game and a sub-standard swing that I have to re-learn each day as I go along? Well outside of those things I throw away a lot of strokes when I lose focus, basically don't care very much what I shoot on a hole, and just go through the motions.

Q: What is you biggest weakness?

A: Declining distance. I have been golfing more than 50 years, and the ball just doesn't seem to go as far any more with any of my clubs. I have been able to compensate by working hard on my short game and putting. My goal is to remain a single digit handicap for as long as I can, while having as much fun as I can.

Drivers: Bag 1 - TM R11 (10.5°); Bag 2 - Ping G5 (9°),
Fairway woods: #1 - TM RBZ Tour (14.5°) & TM System 2 Raylor (17°); #2 - TM Burner (15°) & TM V-Steel (18°)
Hybrid: #1 - TM Rocketballz (19°); #2 - Ping G5 (19°)
Irons: #1 - Ping i3+; #2 - Hogan Edge  (both 4-pw, +1" shaft)
Wedges: #1 - Ping i3+ U wedge (52°) & Ping Eye 2+ BeCu (60°); #2 - Ping ISI Sand BeCu (52°) & Cleveland CG11 lob (60°)

Golf Balls: Titleist Pro V1, Bridgestone B330, Callaway SR1, Slazenger Grips: Lamkin Crossline

I love this game! :-D

Sand game without a doubt. I grew up on a golf course with almost no bunkers, so to this day I have no touch or feel in them and have never actually been formally taught how to hit out of them properly lol. I've lost a lot of strokes in tournaments because of it

Wouldn't mind hitting it 10-20 yards further

I would like to be more consistent with my GIR's, would be great to hit at least 12/13 every round. Short iron play was sucking for a while, hitting big pushes but getting that under control. Hit 15 greens in our last SoCal outing and 14 at Aviara for a Titleist media day. Here's my last 5 rounds (round at Encinitas Ranch/Aviara not included)

It's not like I don't give myself chances, fairways hit numbers

I will give you 15 more yards off the tee, but it will cost you 15% in fairways hit.  What say you?

Biggest Weakness... After carefully looking at my scores from my last several rounds, and looking at the holes where I scored double bogey or worse, compared to bogey or better (and I used to think it was my short game...)

I can honestly say with confidence, I CANNOT get off the friggen tee to save my life.  Can't hit a driver, can't hit a 3 wood, can't even hit a damn hybrid off the tee with any sort of consistency.  The last round I played, I scored no worse than bogey on all but 1 hole in which I hit a drive that gave me a chance to hit a GIR.  All other holes that I made double bogey or worse?  I topped my tee shot, pop flied it, hooked it sliced it you choose I did everything but put it in a place where I at least had a chance to go for the green.  Right now I am topping a ton of shots, dribbling the stupid ball at best 100 yards.  So instead of being in the fairway and anywhere from 130-180 yards out on a par 4 for a 2nd... I am hitting out of the rough short of the fairway 300 yards out, just trying to give myself a 50 yard shot to get on the green, which usually results in a 2-3 putt for double bogey.  All I know is that I am frustrated with my game right now because I haven't shot better than 97 since June (twice failed to break 100) and my best score this year is a 91 (94+ in all other rounds) and my best score last year was an 88, twice.  I don't know why my game has regressed so bad because I still feel like I am striking my irons good enough to shoot low 90's and on a good day break 90 but because I might get 200+ off the tee right now 3 times per round and be in play.  Par 4s are pretty long when your second shot is 300+ yards.

What kind of par 4s do you play? If you just hit a 4/i5i that would put you about halfway on a standard par 4 380 yards (sea level standard conditions). A lob wedge off the tee would be the only way I can see leaving 300+ yards, less if I blade it.

I would hit 6i/7i for the time being. You need to get that driver working, eventually.

Your swing path looks pretty solid, it's probably something really subtle.

Driver. I'm usually wild(98%) I'm talking low hooks OB, bombs pushed way right, usually OB too. Including sky shots to worm burners. I really think I'm just over swinging. ..though the times I do get lucky and stripe it are a thing a beauty :)

Overall my biggest weakness is chipping and pitching.   Too many fat and thin shots, especially from the rough that result in multiple pitches / chips per hole.

The problem is compounded because I find myself in many situations where I have to pitch or chip because I made the wrong shot selection on the shot I hit prior to the chip or pitch.

I usually struggle on Par 4 425+ holes where I hit my drive around 220+ yards and then try to hit the green with my 2nd shot rather than lay up.  For some reason, the thought I'd have a shot at birdie convinces me to take the risk and usually results with me trying to save bogey or worse.

Yeah, I pretty much play everything over 430 like a par 5. Lucky for us, there's usually only a few holes like this on even 6700 yard courses.

Yeah, there must be golf mermaids on the greens or something because I know better but I seem to lose my mind when the situation comes up and make a bad decision.
