Really struggling lately, didnt even finish this round for the sake of my mental health haha.

-Hooked a 6i, couldnt find it...

-197yd 7i comes out of nowhere, blowing past the 166yd green.

-Giving up using driver on the 6th if I play in the evening due to sun-set angle. Barely found the provisional, despite me thinking the 1st shot was around it. I saw neither in flight from the sun.  3w or 21* hyrbid just to avoid the penalties from now on.

-Hit tee/provisional into the tall grass, couldnt find either, and just decided to end this round with the stats not counting.

BTW, one small idea I would like GG to use is to count club stats per season. (Unless this already exists?)

Everytime I want to see club performance specific to the 2017 season, I gotta check off those individual rounds.

Shot a 39, ball striking much better.

Putting was meh. Didn't make much of anything inside of 5 feet. Had some good scramble looks for par.

Played in the league last night. Shot 36, 2 birdies, 2 bogeys.

Missed two 8 foot par putts and made two 20 foot birdie putts. Long putting was decent for me. No 3 jacks.

7/9 GIR and 4/7 Fw's.

I hit my wedges pretty well. Crisp contact with good distance control for the most part.

Played last Saturday, forgot to post. Course was in great shape. I apparently forgot what club to hit an 80 yard shot with because I struggled to hit shot properly with my SW a few times before I finally wised up and hit my GW on 17. This is the kind of stuff I have to deal with because I don't play enough. Things are slowly coming together though.

Played Green Knoll again. Hit 6 GIR and still shot 90. Penalty trouble with a couple due to bad bounces. Hit into a bunch of bunkers today, too, including a couple of really awkward lies. Distance control on my putting was off today. Blew a couple of lag putts past the hole, but still managed less than two putts per hole because I hit putts from the fringe a few times.

Still feeling confident about my game improving. Definitely played better than the score would indicate.

I'm happy with this round, quick thoughts

-I absolutely love picking and choosing when I use 3w off the tee vs driver. Really helping avoiding the OB/Lost Ball penalties. The one that looked wide open, I really opened up and hit my new longest drive of 323 yards!!!

-That being said, still had a +2 penalty on a 3w tee shot. Still upset about this one as I saw the ball flight the whole time, had a great reference sign to walk towards, and then just couldnt find it. It wasn't even that thick of grass, so that really irked me. Happened also on the 1st hole with a hybrid shot.

-First time since last year I landed in a fairway bunker. NEVER practice it....made about 10 yards of progress out of it.

-Lost some easy strokes to bad start line (gotta be more careful of that).  Should have clubbed up with the par3 water hazard. considering the wind. Could have been maybe an 87-89 simply from things before the stroke.

The most solid round of the year. Still could make a few more putts inside 10 ft :)

Had a rough start with the driver, kept pushing and slicing them right (into trouble). Finally worked it out and found a draw (and the fairway) on the 5th hole. For those of you who've been following along... since my driver was sucking, I decided to hit it, once again, on 7 and crushed it down the middle, drawing away from the water. Too funny. Everything started clicking after my approach on 10, 5-iron from 157 yards. Beautiful strike, a little lower trajectory than normal, landed pin-high and bit hard...and I made the 10-footer for birdie. :-D

Two pars after that and then lightning decided to crash the party.

Everything except the irons sucked today, but boy did I love my iron shots tonight. Wish I could have played the 7th hole, but I dislike hitting into a green filled with 20 geese. I had to put down a goose last year with my club after hitting one, and I never want to do that again mid-round.

I like to compare myself to a 15hi on GG.

37 in league play tonight. 1 birdie, 2 bogies

5/7 FW, 6/9 GIR

Irons were struck well. As open with the shoulders as I've ever felt on the course.

71 at Lake View. Hit the ball reasonably well. Hit some flares with the driver (three - #4, #16, #17) and a loose 3W and a fat hybrid, but otherwise struck the ball pretty well.

Almost had a hole in one on the 12th. It hit just beside the hole, four inches or so, and pulled back three feet.

Yesterday's round at a par-3 course:  http://www.gamegolf.com/player/Shindig/round/1677307

Today's round at the same par-3 course: http://www.gamegolf.com/player/Shindig/round/1677995

These two, combined;  strokes gained/lost, according to Game Golf, versus a 10 handicap:  approach gained 3.55, short game gained 0.02 (I'll take it!), putting lost 4.04.

On one hand, greens weren't in the greatest shape... on the other hand, it's not like I'm a great putter yet anyway.  And it was a short par-3 course (I didn't hit anything longer than a 5-iron).  But I had fun.

Played Neshanic for the first time this year. Contact was good, path not so much. Too far right again. Blocks and overdraws, two-way miss.

Having a hard time allowing myself to swing left because I miss left and I'm afraid to pull the ball, even though I know better. My left miss is a path issue. Swinging left won't make me hit it more left. There is always next time.

    • Day 52 (30 Apr 26) - Had planned a solo round, got invited to be part of trio that included a fmr mini tour pro.  Was fun playing back a set of tees and having to stay in my game plan. Both were very engaging and encouraging in the round.  A good day in working through and making smarter shot choices.
    • Day 576 - 2026-04-30 Put my playlist on and slowed down a little as things were meh. Mostly got to an exaggerated P6 and hit from there.
    • I mean, a golfer is trespassing and damaging property. So, golf rules don’t supersede state laws. 😉 Like, if it isn’t marked and is off golf property. The right thing to do is take an unplayable lie or take stroke and distance.  Also, this is a liability for the course. The homeowner could easily say the course is liable for damage done because they knowingly didn't mark their boundaries which allowed golfers to trespass and damage property.
    • Interestingly enough, if the course (the Committee in Rules terms) doesn't mark the boundaries, there is nothing out of bounds.  I realize that neighboring homeowners would take a dim view of golfers whacking balls from their backyards, but that's what the Definition of Out of Bounds requires. "All areas outside the boundary edge of the course as defined by the Committee."
    • I had two events the past two days. Yesterday I was playing a course blind. Hit it solid. Hit 9/14 fairways, 12/18 greens, 34 putts. Many of those putts were the result of balls that were close-ish to the hole when they landed, but wound up a long way away once they'd finished rolling (backwards mainly). Then today, hit 11/13 fairways, 11/18 greens, 37 putts, and shot 80. 8 over par and it wasn't particularly pretty. My big problem today was my pitching. I was inside 100 yards of the hole and off the green on 9 occasions.  1st - drive to about 75 yards, fanned a 58 degree short and right. On the green, but a good 40 feet away and good two putt from there (so took 3) 2nd - laid up to a bunker and it's narrow past it, so had 165 in, missed it right with an 8 iron. Wet rough, chip from about 5 yards off the green and the club snagged. It got on the green, but only temporarily. Overcorrected a bit on the next one and hit it a bit firm and it rolled out to about 35 feet. Putt didn't break and it ran on a bit and I missed the one back (greens were fast and a little bumpy, which didn't help, but doesn't excuse either). (took 5 to get down from close to the green) 4th - had about 95 from the right rough, hit it on the green and two putts (3) 5th - 90 from the fairway, tugged it and it got a firm bounce, chipped on and hit what I thought was a decent chip, but it ran out down the hill and two putts from 20 feet (4) 7th - 65 from the fairway, significant upslope and hit it a bit hard, ran long left against the collar. Tried to blade a PW, but it got under a bit so didn't advance it anything like far enough. Made a good two putt from there (4) 11th - 63 from the fairway, hit a squirrelly pitch on the green and two putts (3) 12th - 75 from the semi-rough, caught it a bit clean and it wound up on the back edge. Putting down a tier and it ran 8 feet past (that was actually a really good putt and couldn't have done any better I don't think) and missed that (4) 13th - 55 from the fairway, overcorrected and hit the big ball before the small ball. Then made a stellar up and down from 25 yards short to an elevated green with a putter (3) 15th - down in three from a greenside bunker (3) That was it. The other 9 holes I hit it on the green from outside 100 yards. So on those 9 occasions, I took 32 shots to get in the hole. 3.56 average. Terrible. Reason I'm posting this in here is to see if anyone has any suggestions for how to work on my contact with pitch shots. I don't have access to a grass range. Only mats and it's easy off a mat. Partly I think my problem is I've hit it off mats so much this winter that I've lost my judgement on where the ball is versus the ground because of the leeway granted. Open to ideas. I also suspect that under pressure I stand a bit closer to it and then get steep and hit down on it and it puts me in a bad place, but I can't seem to get myself to not do that.
