We have "Best Shot" threads so I thought maybe a thread for those of us that don't necessarily play holes "According to Hoyle" but they still work out might be fun.

This one is from last week on a par 5. First shot a horrible duck hook. Second shot supposed to fade around the trees and leave me something from the fairway but instead another hook over next to another green (and far off line). Third shot a 9 iron to about 10 feet and made the putt for birdie. Better lucky than good!

Nothing like a 280 yard cart path drive that ends up careening back to the fairway!

I've had a few epic "barkies" lol. Monday morning I pushed a 9 iron tee shot about 30 degrees on a short par 3. Teed up a provisional that wasn't much better but looked like it may have been "findable" near the cart path just right of the green. As I was heading towards the forest hoping to see a ball trail through the carpet of fall leaves I almost stepped on my original ball that must have careened off a tree to land just short of the apron. Chipped it to 6' and made the putt for par.

LOL.....must be nice!    There are no barkies where I play.    Every sprayed shot is a lost ball....

The only shot I can ever recall from my all-time best round was the one destined for a penalty but through a series of miraculous bounces deep within the woods somehow found its way back onto the fairway.

I figure shots like that even out for the ones you see land right out in the open but are no where to be found when you walk up to the spot.

This time of the year, the leaf cover is so thick that anything even close to the tree line is done. It's a pisser because some of them you know you'd have been left with a decent shot if it was a few weeks earlier in the year. I usually just take the provisional knowing I don't have a snowball's chance of finding the first one.

Yours was the more "interesting" way to play this hole!  Thanks for sharing.

Either fortunately or unfortunately (I'm not sure which) I could fill a thread up with stuff like that. At least I get my money's worth and see the entire course. ;-)

Any kind of birdie score is great no matter how it's processed. Been there done that. Congrats on staying with the task at hand on that hole.

Got one myself. Last year I played El Campeon the more exciting 18 holes (2x18) at Mission Inn, Florida. The signature hole is a par5 called Devils Delight. This hole you need not only be straight, but also precise.

My driver sliced the ball to the right side into the woods, to leave me with a sandy lie and a lot of branches. So I took out my driver again and hit an other slicy shot, just low enough not to hit the branches. Still 300y to the green, and I pulled my 5 wood. Hitting it in de direction of the trees on the fairway. I had some luck to hit one of those trees, otherwise the ball would have gone in the water in front of the green.

My 4th shot was on the green leaving me a 15ft downhill putt on a fast green and in the direction of the water I just crossed. Offcourse I made that putt and said with a big smile on my face 'easy par'.

Well this is my type off game really. they call me mr. Scramble for a reason hehe.

My last round a dog leg left par 5.

my tee shot hooked in the left hand trees. from there i wanted to hit a punch to about 100 yards

but over hit my shot and ended up in the right trees.

the flag was stuck front right just behind a deep bunker.

From where i was there was no option to reach the green, to get the bunker out off play i thought to

lay up past the bunker short of the green. i duffed that pitch so after 3 shots i still didn't see fairway nor green.

my ball was now on some sort off a dirt path, the only option i really had was to flop it and hope for the best.

Well now the only good shot off the hole came up and i actually slam dunked it in the hole, making one off the nicest birdies ever.

I like the line about luck over skill, definitely applies to me.

I love making birdie or par from the other fairway....

Kind of makes you feel like Phil Mickelson, doesn't it?

yesterday's competition round .

AS after 16 holes ( never been up in the match )

17th dogleg left 420 yards. blocked my teeshot to the fairway wanted to hit a pw over the trees for position, but was to lazy about it

shanked it more right, tried to hit my hybrid trough a gap that wasn't there so ended up 70 yards short left of fairway in thick rough.

i somehow managed to get it to 8 feet and holed the put for bogey and the halve. Wen't on to birdie the 18th and win the match.
