No, his tweet was from yesterday after Tiger made his response. The guy is 86 years old and has been irrelevant for quite a while, so I doubt he thinks he has anything to lose. I don't know what price he will pay. He's basically retired.

Don't like being this punctilious normally but it's dated 11/18, which was Tues. Today is Thurs. His reputation has been shattered, legacy as well which is all you really have at that age. He will apologize soon.

1. Arnold Palmer and his infidelity.
2. Tom Watson and his infidelity.
3. Nick Faldo and his infidelity.
4. Greg Norman and his infidelity.
5. Tens of other top PGA golfers and their infidelity.

And @phan52 , were you equality crestfallen when you found out about all the above and their infidelity.  I just find the double standard against Woods comical.

He's basically retired? He's still attending majors, writing about them, and still has a regular column in Golf Digest, does he not?

Did you see the responses to his tweet? Very few were positive toward Dan Jenkins.

He has his legacy to lose. His reputation, his place in journalism, etc.

Being old and irrelevant doesn't entitle you to be vindictive and mean.   The fake interview addressed things that were 2-3 years old, why bring them up now unless he had an axe to grind with Tiger.

He could have done a fake interview with Rory about his relationship with Woz, Nike and suing his friend and former agent.  How about a fake interview with Watson about how bad a coach he was for the Ryder Cup.  I could even see him doing a fake interview with Bishop or Poulter about their twitter exchanges.   Those might be funny if he had any talent.

There are many more recent events that were more relative to golf today that he could have chosen, yet he picked Tiger to satire.

Tiger is a public figure and has to expect the kind of treatment Jenkins meted out BUT he doesn't have to like it and is entitled to express his displeasure about it. Both have had their turn at bat and that should be the end of it.

Tiger haters LOVE the piece because it depicts Tiger in the worst light. Tiger lovers hate the piece because it's an obvious HIT piece which was written for no other apparent reason other than to demean Tiger.

The majority of us, who I believe neither love nor hate Tiger, think it was a "low blow" and unnecessarily mean spirited article which does not speak to Tiger's historic accomplishments on the golf course, which have with one exception been far greater than Jenkins' hero, Ben Hogan.

I think if you were a journalist and were out to write a character assassination piece on anyone, you could do it quite effectively -- even on such legends as Hogan, Palmer, Nicklaus and Player -- especially Player who was known to be quite an SOB in his day.

But to go out of his way to do this to Tiger, when he has not been playing particularly well in his career, really seems boorish and cheap."Humor" at the expense of others is NEVER funny to me and Mr. Jenkins' article is no exception

No, that would be Tiger. He is arrogant as well, as I would wager people close to him probably told him to let it go, but he can't. He had nothing to gain, and we wouldn't be having this conversation if Tiger didn't write his screed. Dan Jenkins has been irrelevant for decades. Today he is on the front page of every mainstream website in America. He loves this.

FWIW, I partially agreed with you that he didn't need to dignify Jenkins with a response. However, There comes a time when you draw a line in the sand, and I think this qualifies as a good time to draw said line. I disagree with you on him making this more a story than it would have otherwise been, or the other personal tangents you explored. He gets bashed all the time by all sorts of riff-raffs, same ones that benefit from his impact on the game, and he lets it slide. I'm glad he's making a statement now.
