Amazon tends to vary its prices depending on all sorts of variables. I'm getting $370. Maybe if I were on a PC and not a Mac, it might be cheaper. Let's apply your argument to Game Golf. If one is patient, one might wait till there's a sale on GG. I've seen GG priced at $140 at Rock Bottom Golf, I think I may have even seen $99, but let's say $140. $340 vs $140. That's a big difference. I could buy 2 GGs and still have money left over for a round of golf for the price of an Arccos. A used GG is $150 in Amazon. A used Arccos is $320. Again, GG is much cheaper.
Your right I just checked AMAZON and now the price is $370 for ARCCOS. I guess its worth checking back to AMAZON from time to time for prices No question GG is a much cheaper option and if that format works for you then it makes no sense for you to buy GG .  Myself I am not good on entering information even simple things such as tapping the GG belt Box. I also don't like having the belt box and prefer to have it hidden in my IPHONE. Add to that real time stats and imaging we are talking about two different devices. Also ARCCOS holds multiple rounds in its memory which you can refer to. Not sure about GG on that. To be honest I doubt I would take the time to enter an old round into my computer if I had the spare time to do it. I believe CALLAWAY is the  backer of ARCCOS so I feel confident that they will be around for a while. BTW I am not trying to make an argument about GG vs ARCCOS just reporting the way I see the two devices.

Did you mean, it makes no sense to buy an Arccos? Your Jedi mind tricks won't work on me, young Skywalker. :-)

You lost me at batteries for the tags. Knowing my luck, they'll die when I'm in the middle of my round. Of course I don't own an iPhone, so there's that, too.

I do like the advanced stats they can give you. I own a rangefinder and a handheld GPS, so I really wouldn't need that feature at all. For me, the additional cost of the ARCCOS is better spent elsewhere.

Please read that thread, @club ho . Specifically the multiquoting part.

Bingo. That's how I feel too. I don't want to mess with (or worry about the battery life) of my phone during a round. I want to play golf. GG is an out-of-the-way solution for that. The only change is that I tap my waist. Not hard to do.

With any of these solutions, I imagine you'll be editing your round afterward anyway, so that's a net neutral.

I know there will be some cross-over, but let's try to limit the GG talk in this thread and talk mostly about the ARCCOS here, okay?

And guess what we learn from that… the ARCCOS tags will affect your swing weight 2.5 points.

Plus, they recommend you have the phone on your "person" (i.e. in your pocket or something). If it's in your cart 20 yards that-a-way it's not going to be accurate (it may not even pick up the signal since it may be out of bluetooth range).

Two big negatives right there.

I already have a garmin s3 watch for distances, and I can get all the stats I need from my GG, together they both come in under £300, I don't require an iPhone, and they're legal for comps, so I'm perfectly happy with my products, but although I have no desire for the arcoss, I'd still like to play a round with it, just because it looks a cool peice of kit and I love my golf and gadgets! But I don't see GG and arcoss as competing products, I see them as 2 different products for 2 different uses. Horses for courses!

I love it! You know when I quickly proof read my post I actually changed it from ARCCOS to GG. Then later after rereading my post I realized the mistake but apparently you are only allowed short window of time to edit your posts. So I guess did that by mistake.

This is a big one in the minus column for me. There are a lot of times when I'll play a round and spend the rest of the day out. Big negative if I have to manage my battery life all day just because I played a round of golf.

As I have stated before I only have $342 in this issue and if I find that ARCOSS is a disappointment I will be the first report it and stack it on top of my OPTI SHOT golf simulator gathering dust in my office.

Bottom line is golfers new to this golf tracking technology want to make informed decisions about wether or not to buy a certain device or maybe not bother buying either. I have no problem with people adding input on the subject pro, con or indifferent. The more information the better informed they get.

ARCCOS battery life information:

1) Your IPHONE is the heart of ARCCOS as it uses an APP to work. It uses about 60 % of your battery life for an 18 hole round according to ARCCOS

2) BLUETOOTH batteries for each club. They come supplied with the initial purchase and last approximately 40-50 rounds. Replacement cost is about $1 per club or $14

This is a minor issue but it exists. Since it uses batteries, CR2032s I think, each lasts about 50 rounds, that's about $10 to $20 a year depending on battery manufacturer. That's $50 to $100 added to price if you use it for 5 years. Plus the hassle of changing them every year.

These issues would keep me from considering Arccos. An iPhone 6 in my pocket would bug me to no end and there would be no way to avoid that around the greens, can't get carts close enough. But the 12 grams is really brutal. At the butt end this decreases swing weight. My drivers are around D0 going down to C7.5 would likely be a problem. I wouldn't want to tweak my clubs.

Personally I don't get too worked up on swing weights. Frankly I don't even have a clue what it means. But if it bothers you then this might not be your device. I would imagine GG tags effect the the swing weight as well but probably to a lesser degree.

It seems to me I remember seeing Jack Nicklaus advertising some kind of counter weight grip that actually added weight exactly where these bluetooth units attached to the grip.

Myself the thought of having a belt box attached to me bugs me to no end. Kinda makes me feel like Bill Nye the Science guy. Anyone see my clip Board?

For some reason this is only the last part of my post. The first part was mysteriously erased. It seems some folks have more access to our posts than just us. I was a bit miffed that someone could make a long highly critical post on the ARCCOS device and why GG is better and then request that no one make or at least comments on GG devices on this board. When comparing technologies it is important to point out both the pros and cons of the devices being reviewed. I am sure a few people saw my comments before the culprit exercised his arbitrary editing skills.

Just so people are aware when using ARCCOS you need to have your phone on  your person if you leave it in the cart it will assume that is where you hit the shot from. The same is true with GG which is why you have to wear it on your belt.

I suppose you could get a belt clip/case. I have one I run with but it's not pleasant probably wouldn't bug me just walking around the course.

It's real simple: this is a thread for learning about arccos. There's another thread for learning about game golf. If you want to talk about both, just create A new thread like "comparing arccos and gamegolf" or something to that effect. That simple.

Yeah but I find just keeping it in my back pocket works fine. I usually walk the course riding i think I will put in my front pocket. No big deal.

Back right pocked is ruled out because of the scorecard and pencil, back left tends to not work because of the glove. I wear it on my left hand, and it catches on the pocket. Front right doesn't work because I've got golf balls and a divot tool in there. Front left is the only place I'd consider putting my phone. Even then, I don't like the idea of carrying around more shit in my pockets.
