Fingers crossed for Tiger. I think he should find pleasure in golf, do not try to win.

His pleasure comes from winning.

Fingers crossed for Tiger. I think he should find pleasure in golf, do not try to win.

Oddly enough, as others have noted, he seems more at ease and friendlier on the course now that his game is in the doldrums, when compared to how he was at the height of his powers.

But is there any point in a touring pro entering a tournament with any objective other than participating to the best of his or her ability?

Think Tiger could care less about Golf. He is loaded and enjoying life, his girl, travel, kids, house, etc... Would love to know in comparison Tigers wealth vs Jacks at the same point in career. I would have to think Jack had several million, kids growing up, lots of hard work going on a daily basis and knew he had to continue working hard to build an empire.

Tiger already has one and no matter what he does for the next 30 years he will have more than he or his kids een need.  He is not going to practice like he should or care like he should. Just because a million white guys demand he appriciate his status doesn't mean he will.

Bet it gets worse as he looks to care less because he doesn't need too. Too much compititon and too much hard work is needed and he isn't going to do it...

More fog in todays forecast, making it less likely to finish the 2nd round today

I'm heading over to the tournament today.  I was checking out what you can and can't bring in.  Wow, it's so restrictive.

I think this is all I can bring:

This is sad. I think that TW should retire now, rather than risk going through the rest of his life with intolerable back pain. We are in Sandy Koufax territory here, and Koufax at least pitched magnificently right up until the point when he couldn't take the pain anymore. Based on what we are seeing in the past 12 months, there would appear to be no way that Tiger could conceivably break Jack's majors record, and I strongly doubt whether he can even beat Snead's PGA wins record. Many don't want to acknowledge this, maybe least of all Woods himself, but I think it's over. Would Tiger have the guts to call it a day? I honestly have no idea.

My hats off to Billy Horchel.

Whether he believes Tiger's game is close or not, he stuck up for his friend.

He probably said Tiger is doing good things to make him feel better.

Nothing wrong with that.

A class act.

I'm down to a 10 handicap. At this rate, I'll get to scratch at 90 years old!

My impression is that Tiger has become a lot more likable and is getting along a lot better witrh more of his fellow golfers since he ceased to be super-human and became merely human. He's not some scary monster anymore, just one of the guys.

    • Day 11: did mirror work for a while. Worked on the same stuff.
    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
