What device do you use to keep score?

I am looking for something I can just touch once to count a stroke or a putt, it would be great if it had a separate counter for penalty strokes and gave stats at the end. Something maybe I could wear on my wrist or clip to the bag. Something I could take to the range to keep stats when I am working on something, percentage of push slices vs  baby draws, whatever so I can put some pressure on my self to improve those stats.

Yes, I know there are tons of free apps with GPS and everything that will keep all kinds of stats. I just don't like using one. Hard to see in direct sun, my eyes aren't what they used to be, they take too much time to use, I feel like they hinder POP.

What I read on Amazon when looking at these devices are a wide range of over the top praise vs total disgust with various devices.

What is your experience with these kinds of devices?

A pencil. If the time comes when I can't remember how many time I hit the ball after each hole, it'll be time to take up checkers on the porch. :-)

Old school, pencil and a scorecard.

Though I have been known to just go out and shoot a round and then calculate the score when I get home. I never had any trouble remembering every shot I hit after the round is over.

I have a feeling I hit a lot more forgettable shots than you do, or at least shots begging to be forgotten.  ;)  Seriously, I think you have played so many rounds it is second nature. I am trying to get to a point where it becomes second nature, but it is not. I want an honest, unbiased score.

I use my head and a scorecard with a pencil... I always try to have a pencil with an eraser. ..............................................................

...................................... I really don't use the eraser except when I forget to mark a hole and have to correct 3 or 4 hole scores after putting scores in the wrong boxes. This is particularly important in a tournament where I am acting as marker for a fellow competitor.

On courses that I know (80% of my rounds), I rely on my memory to keep score. Then, when I get home, I go to the website oobgolf.com and enter my stats hole-by hole. The website then computes my stats based on the settings that I select.

On courses that I do not know I use a pencil and scorecard. I record score, fairways hit, and putts, and then enter my score on oobgolf.

My playing partner always has an accurate, up-to-date mental record of my score during any given hole....and the same goes for me in terms of his score...

And here is where we part methods.  I don't see any point in a game of any type if there is no score.  I always keep score - scoring is the whole point of golf.  Maybe an occasional practice round, but for me that's rare.  I play every round the same way, with the rules of golf in force, and I keep score, if for no other reason than for comparison to previous rounds, or for discussion with my friends.  This does not detract from the fun aspect for me in any way.

I don't usually carry a score keeping device. I might us a my own score card sometimes, but most of the time I just keep my over/under par in my head. As I leave the green I just know I am +/- with regards to par.

Probably sounds corny, because it is, but one of the best golf devices a golfer can have is their brain.

Something else. I always keep score in my head, an old habit that I can't break (and don't really want to). No practice rounds, I always know what I'm shooting---

I don't like to keep score on a scorecard in matches with my friends. I'll play whatever they want to play as long as they keep score (always with a scorecard so far).

When I was younger, my regular golf buddies didn't like keeping the scorecard any more than I did, we played "high score on the first hole keeps score". Lots of pressure, maybe as competitive a hole as any we would play all day.
