For me, I take my 12yr old son bowling and today was an epic day!!   I watched him bowl a 711 series at his youth league this morning!  We normally stick around and bowl a ton of games together afterwards, but there was a tourney afterwards so we left to go to a different bowling center to bowl more games.

..................and his good bowling continued!!!!  The little dude rolled his first 300!!!

Wow.......this was FUN!!!   Good father/son memories being made!!

It's never to cold to play golf unless the course is closed due sub freezing temps, or covered in snow. I would probably go ice fishing if the ice was not too thick to cut. Staying indoors due to Ma Nature is over rated.

Only weather I actually hate is the wind.

A whole bunch of Tour Edge golf stuff......

Had an hour to kill, so I dropped by Golfsmith and the simulators were quiet, so I demoed all the new drivers: Nike Vapor Speed, Taylormade R15, Ping G30 LS Tec, and Callaway BB 815. Loved them. First time hitting a ping and found it to be the longest of them all. Very surprised. Was losing a lot to the right having not swung a driver in a month and a half but it was fun, what with all the snow cover. Tried the new Nike Vapor Speed and Callaway XR irons. The Callaways were stupid easy to hit. The Nikes were incredible. For a playery-looking iron, that was very friendly. I was least enthusiastic about the Nike driver but that iron was a joy. Anyway, I can't wait for this snow to melt. I feel like I'm in a great spot with my game, after two winters of losing my swing.

Then why didn't you just be honest and title the thread "my kid rolled a 300 and I want to brag about it?"

Why pretend like you give a shit what others do when it gets cold if you're just gonna say "that's lame?"

Totally agree with this - especially when the suggestion you denounce as 'lame' is golf-related...

Currently focusing on: Key 4 - shorter backswing.

Classy, and clearly not egocentric. Congrats to your son. Although, it's kind of a shame knowing that for one game he will never be able to bowl anything higher. That's the beauty of golf, you can always try to shoot a lower score. (At age 64 this year I came within one stroke of my all-time best, shot when I was 25 or 26.)

What do I do when it's too cold to play golf?

Since I am retired and my wife still works, I shovel snow, go to breakfast with retired friends, take naps, clean the bathrooms, dust & vacuum the house, go grocery shopping, take the dog for long walks, compose music, or read books (the last one was Bill O'Reilly's Killing Patton ).  I always try to find one productive thing to do every day.

Drivers: Bag 1 - TM R11 (10.5°); Bag 2 - Ping G5 (9°),
Fairway woods: #1 - TM RBZ Tour (14.5°) & TM System 2 Raylor (17°); #2 - TM Burner (15°) & TM V-Steel (18°)
Hybrid: #1 - TM Rocketballz (19°); #2 - Ping G5 (19°)
Irons: #1 - Ping i3+; #2 - Hogan Edge  (both 4-pw, +1" shaft)
Wedges: #1 - Ping i3+ U wedge (52°) & Ping Eye 2+ BeCu (60°); #2 - Ping ISI Sand BeCu (52°) & Cleveland CG11 lob (60°)
Putters: Ping B60i & Anser 2, Odyssey White Steel 2-Ball & White Hot XG #9, Lamkim Jumbp grips
Golf Balls: Titleist Pro V1, Bridgestone B330, Callaway SR1, Slazenger Grips: Lamkin Crossline
Golf Shoes: Footjoy & Adidas; Golf Glove: Footjoy StaSof®; Golf Bag: Ping Hoofer
I love this game! :-D

Typically late January-early March here on LI I spend my time updating or trying new drivers well used versions that are a newer model than what I have. This season besides the typical driver update I have been on a shoe mission. True Linkswear has been what I have been focusing on. Also lessons. Hopefully I can get the driver and hybrids figured out so I can have a very productive start to the season. From lessons to this website my irons are starting to com e around. The comonalities of the trip thread has been especially helpful so thank you for that. Also flaring out my feet has been another great tip.

As a fly fisherman I use the winter to tie my own trout flies.  With a bad back the clubs go in the basement by Thanksgiving and usually come out again for 45-50F days in late March.  Since I split the Spring between golf and fly fishing it takes a little longer to have my golf game functional.  This coming season I will have one extra day (Wednesday) in addition to the weekend to pursue my passions - cannot wait.  In the meantime fly tying keeps me well occupied.

I put time into lessons, practicing on simulators and trying out new clubs.  It's been miserable here on Long Island, snow may not melt until June at this rate.   I know those further north have it even worse but we're not use to these polar vortexes and nor'easters we seem to get every week now.

It never gets too cold here in central california. It might rain on weekends at times, but its not like I'm stuck all winter.  But if it rains on the day I wanted to golf, I just browse the web for golf deals, news, etc or browse my football forums.  Then I go out next week.  I'm fairly new to the game.  I played some over 20 years ago but family and other things got in the way.  Now that its just me and the wife, I want to try it again.  But I'm a working man so weekends are the only chance I get.
