The only problem is "it's practice." The issue with Tiger has been he's chipped it great on the practice range and at home, and played great, but on the golf course, he can't do it. A lot of that is just plain mental. He needs to fix his mental game, and we'll find out Thursday if it's fixed or not.

That's not correct.

He was shanking it on the range at Torrey Pines. That was not only "practice" it was not even on the golf course.

I will say this, watching all his chips on TGC practicing today, he looked good. In the 20 minutes I saw , he didn't chunck or blade even one shot. Take it for what's it's worth.

It's been more than just mental, his technique sucked. It was better today, he wasn't doing the shut face, stiff wristed stuff he was doing earlier in the year. He was even hitting some salty 5 yard mini flop shots after his full swing warm-up.

Hooray! It's Masters Week. My absolute favourite golf viewing week of the year.  You never know when a 1986 miracle will occur, or a 1996 trainwreck  which was painful but compelling to witness.  If Tiger is there and playing, all other lines sort of fall back. Just look at the interest in comments on this thread and it is only the finish of day 1.  The ultimate of course would be Rory vs. Tiger neck and neck on Sunday.  Buy Nike stock on e trade. lol.

He shot a 30 today playing 9 holes with O'meara? if that's true , things might be very very interesting come Sunday.

im pretty sure he was chipping and putting extra balls thoughout the"round". He also putted a 3 footer 20 feet past a hole to mess with the fans. I dont know where you saw he shot a 30 but im pretty confident in saying that didnt happen...thatd be insane

We've heard all of this before. All that matters is what happens starting Thursday. He has shown the past several years the inability to perform in majors, especially on the weekends. It's all between the ears. I still say he will stink it up then an injury will appear.

Watched some coverage last evening. El Tigre looked relaxed and ready. He'll make the cut and finish in the top 20.

That, to me, is a pretty good sign that his game and more importantly his head are in decent shape... I still reckon he makes the cut but doesn't contend, but who knows with Tiger?

Currently focusing on: Key 4 - shorter backswing.

To be fair though, his purposely (i think...) ripped a shot out of the bunker and into the crowd for fun at one of the tournaments earlier this year. Than preceded to play terribly.

Same.

Yeah because of the angle, I can't tell the difference. I know Mvmac mentioned in one of the threads that there is a difference.

All I know is that he was using the bounce like a pro yesterday. Looked so comfortable.

Tiger on the course already this morning.

Sergio Garcia goes off as a single, Tiger and O’Meara follow behind off No. 1. Sergio calls the two up onto the green to play through.

Tiger’s drive is just in left rough (that’s damn near right for him) and he hits approach nicely onto green. Took a couple practice putts.

    • Day 11: did mirror work for a while. Worked on the same stuff.
    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
