Glad to be back. been playing some golf. Good holes and bad holes. Hitting shots around greens is why I am using "divot less". Can get to area around green and then take 3 to 4 shots to get in the hole. Blading or chunking my chip. Anyone have this problem? How did you correct it?

20 minutes on the elusive bowed left wrist! Focused on getting the right wrist into the "waiters" position to flatten my left wrist. The jury is still out on what method will eventually work for me. I know there are players who play well with a cupped left wrist but not an OTT move as well!

Is there a stat for BIR (bunkers in regulation)?

Worked for a couple hours on and off on my downswing feel.. Coming straight down with the hands with the weight shift and keeping my shoulders level.. Sounds like a lot, but it is helping shallowing the path and sending it out.. I have one more thought of making the knuckles face the ground, but that's secondary at the moment.

May 24 -

Picked up my reshafted wedges last evening, and tried them out today for a half hour today at the practice green and range.

The CG14s had original TRAction (Tour Reflex Action) Wedgeflex shafts, about 125 grams. Replaced the 50º with NS Pro 8950GH (R-flex, 97 gr.), to match my reshafted iron set, and replaced the 54º and 58º shafts with KBS Tour Wedge Chrome (R.flex, 110 gr.)

The 50º felt a lot livelier on full shots, and fits nicely behind my iron set's PW. For the SW and LW, it's easier to feel the head with the lighter shafts.

I then went home and mowed the grass, ahead of a promised three days of rain,  starting this evening.

Played 18 as part of the SoCal TST outing. It was a blast as always. I worked on getting my full hip turn to be second nature on the course. All in all the results were encouraging and my ball striking was quite solid today.

Do you think bowing the wrist at the top as opposed to bowing during the backswing is beginning to improve your A4 position?  Maybe this is where I'm going wrong?  During my slow backswing drills, I'm attempting to bow the wrist on the way up so that by the time I get to the top, the clubhead is less open.

I never thought of bowing it on the way up. I think checking my positioning would be harder to do if I did it on the way up. Did my five minutes this afternoon working on the same, bowing my wrist and laying down the shaft. Hips forward with the head back and finishing with almost all my weight on my front foot is starting to happen, percentage-wise, more often.

Let me tell you, if you hit enough BIR, you will want something that sounds like that. [/quote] Only if you actually make the save. 8 greenside bunkers this weekend, zero saves. Also played; everyone should join their local TST meetup group. I thought a lot about club selection and driver setup during today's round. Hit a lot of great drives, and also one out of bounds. I think my focus on driver setup played into why I drove it so well -- and I know what I was thinking when I hit my drive O.B., too (I was thinking about how durable the ball I was playing was, and how I should take a picture after this hole because it will have been in play for 27 holes at that point. Sigh). Hit some good irons, too, some of which managed to stay on the green. Hit a number of pitches and chips that did just what I intended to (may not have reacted as I liked after being hit). Hit three great non-driver wood shots during the day too; setup has been my swing thought on everything longer than an iron (and maybe it should be my swing thought with irons too?).

Hit balls on the range before a lesson arrived. Focused on swinging the arms down a bit more so I could actually hit the ground. Imagine that!

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
