In December, 2010, six years after launching The Sand Trap, TST moved from self-hosted site running vBulletin 4.0.5 to Huddler's platform.

Huddler provided a new look and feel, new forum software, and continued to develop the platform. Last year Huddler was bought by Wikia, and this year TST will be moving back off of Huddler and onto our own server running an independent forum platform (likely Invision Power's suite or Xenforo).

This change will occur sometime in the next few months. We're busiest during the "summer" months, of course, so we will seek to do it at a less busy time and/or to minimize downtime to as few days as possible.

There's much work to be done, now, but @mvmac and I are seeing this as a great opportunity to take more control of our advertising (which will allow us to expand Member Review programs and do other such things). It'll let us further customize the software as, though Huddler's software has been good, it's been limited in what we can customize because nearly the same instance has to power every other Huddler site as well).

We may also lose some things in the process, though we'll strive to keep everything that we've had in the past. We'll also gain some new things, too: user blogs, for example, and other cool goodies.

Stay tuned. @mvmac has a note for some of you as well about how you can help. We both love running TST and are excited for the future.

Happy moving. I am sure there will be some 'spring cleaning' and some great new furniture...
