The Americans just can't make putts.  We make a couple putts here or there but it seems as though Europe is automatic from 20ft in

Really? I can think of at least 3 putts that Rory, Westwood and Garcia each missed from less than 5'. That's 9 putts total.

Apparently his right hand is troubling him. On pain killers because of injury, according to Dutch tele.

Did he punch a wall or something?

No Poulter, no GMac, and effectively no Kaymer or Westwood- making things pretty tough for Europe.

I don't think he punched it. He just ran into it.

Weird. He hit a solid drive and great approach. You think a hand injury would affect those more than a short putt.

Gutted for Westy. Make those two putts and we have a chance. As it is I can't see a way back. Too many Europeans struggling, a few have only played once too.

Reed has been phenomenal. Got to be one of the great RC performances.

Yeah, that's a sucky way to lose a hole.

Rors and Pieters have been playing great too, but Reed carried Spieth for sure.

Not exactly relevant, but those white trousers are horrible. You can see their legs in certain light.

I agree, they looked like camp disco sailors today

What a day of golf, man were there some great shots hit.  Reed has been awesome, hope he continues his play tomorrow.  A lot of fun to watch and Phil gets his mojo back with Kuchar!

They shouted 'fore' when Webb Simpson was teeing off for the first time. According to Rory's critique that's rooting for bad shots. Take off the halo and be honest.

Just saying what I'm seeing, even Reed gestured to them to be quiet during roses putt, I actually like the crowds involvement, it makes the atmosphere what it is, and I'm loving reeds passion, he's like the Ian poulter of the USA! Wasn't aware of the "Fore!" Shout to Simpson, you're always gonna get a few dicks in a crowd, but it does seem a bit hostile at times! Great viewing though!

What an asshole.

Our criminal justice system should have a loophole where Rory is allowed to punch him the f--k out, and if every observer agrees that he deserved it, no charges are filed.

Was it the guy who said "you suck"?

Edit: Nevermind.  I wrote that after watching the video but didnt read the headline.  Inappropriate, sure,  but bit of an overreaction by rory.

Why would you pair up one of your best players (so far) to play against RM? I would have saved Reed for a later match up.

DJ would have been RM's best opponent (on paper). Doesn't DJ have something to prove after the last time they played against each other? I will give the Euros a win in the first pairing (no matter who RM is playing). Sorry DJ.

And I would have picked Brandt Snedeker to go against RM in the singles round. I like Brandt. :) He stands a chance of beating RM.

    • Has anyone played around with "My Strategy?"  It seems they've revamped it -- I remember not liking the interface a while ago.  Today I went over a course I play semi-often and was able to designate a tee box for each hole, then choose a a club and target direction and it put my scatter pattern for that club off the tee, showing average SG for fairway / rough / bunker (if appropriate) / green.  I could change the club and see how another behaved.  It wasn't clear to me what I can gain from this, or where the follow-up shot supposedly originates, but it is neat to look at it on a map. What motivated me is that I'm debating taking less than driver on one of the par-4s next time I play this course, probably 4-Wood.  I have found myself, sometimes off of a good tee shot, playing my second shot from the tree line, as the fairway slopes strong left to right.  I don't think I've even had a near-GIR on that hole in 2026 (6 rounds at this course), and it's my second-worst strokes-gained hole, playing to an average of 5.3 for me -- the only worse is a hole where I've hit an O.B. en route to a bogey and also managed a triple bogey another round. Scattering my 4W pattern off that tee shows a higher strokes gained, but then again, hitting that club is far from a guarantee I won't fade it a bit and roll into the tree line, now further back from the green.  And I haven't hit a bunted driver in a while, maybe I need to practice that shot, but that isn't something this feature can show (since it doesn't know why my tee shots ended up where they did).  Then again, it might not know where I was aiming for my tee shots either. On a related note, I am finding their course analysis tool interesting, especially when I can sort by strokes gained average and also determine which hole(s) I'm playing to what stroke average.  Interesting that the #2 and #4 handicap I'm averaging under bogey, while 5-6-7 and 12 handicap holes I'm averaging over bogey.  The hole I described a moment ago is the #12 handicap.
