Putting.  On my 36" ruler board.  Concentrated on the front of the ball and imagined a golf tee on the face of the putter going straight through the back of the ball to the spot on the front.  In other words, not worrying about hitting the ball but swinging through the ball and keeping the face square and on path.  Seemed to work as most putts were nice and straight.

It is raining out today so more mirror work, working on transition and keeping the right elbow from extending to early on the downswing.

Setup up my alignment for every shot. My shoulders were open. So every shot for 3 buckets were setup with my club placed on my shoulders then my feet positioned where they should be relative to all the datum points I use for shot alignment.

I also setup the ball more in the center of the face and towards the heel a bit so I would not hit toe side as much. It helped a lot with my long iron distances, but I spent all my time with alignment and setup. 180-200 balls of this every shot. . .

Spent five minutes doing mirror work. Focused on weight forward at impact. I had a few thin shots yesterday.

8/19/15: Around when the kids made the turn, I worked on 7-PW full and three-quarter shots. Time for a new shag bag I suppose damn thing broke on me... Hitting full 7-irons 160-165 again, for some reason, I can't transfer that to the course...

Spent some time in the back yard with my butt up against my bee hive stand to keep from early extending. Also worked on rhythm and tempo with

5-10 mins of working on my swing in my backyard.  I focused on getting my weight forward. I was trying to swing as slow as possible. I also spent 5-10 mins on my putting.  I worked on my swing path and accelerating through the ball.

Lesson today.  Worked on balance and a little bigger shoulder turn.  Video review showed that all the work on my hip slide/turn is paying off.  Left elbow is folding a bit more on follow through, just slow going.

Putting from 15' was good.  Holed 20% and the rest were within 18".

I spent the better part of an hour putting and getting acquainted with my new Edel. It was mostly 4'-12' putts. Unfortunately, I missed yesterday entirely so I'm out for August. :-( Better luck in September I hope?

Did the office chair drill at work ... yes I know I was lazy today ... but to be honest I do that drill at work all the time ... especially when I am a conference call listening to idiots babble on and on ... keeps me from yelling STFU!!! ... which would be resume generating event.

This post is for yesterday, as I couldn't get the forums to load last night. Practiced an up&down; drill. 2 balls at 4 locations.

Same thing except on grass. Needed the alignment sticks as well since I didn't have a mat. Since, we were moved up 20 yards I was hitting what is normally the 150 flag with my PW. I have to say that hitting off grass is a total treat. I almost don't need to get on the course anymore. :-D

The only bummer about hitting off grass is no woods are allowed as the back fence is only 220 to 240 yards away.

Anyway, I also tried a bunch of shots without the alignment stick and "feeling" the proper positions, and it didn't work out that well. So, I hit more with alignment sticks and placing the club to my shoulders again. Going to take some time to develop the feel.

Shots are going straight and my fade is gone on my long irons. Magic! :smartass:

Not a good practice session today, just one of those days but I did the closed face drill outside with a club focusing on not letting the right elbow extend to early.

8/20/15: Played 9 holes today... Shot 38, no birdies, only two bogeys, so I was pretty happy, over-clubbed on both par-threes caused both bogeys... Imagine a 9-iron to the 145 yard second with a back pin (was 151 to flag) being too much... I hit 9 to not hit it over and hit it over... Had 7 consecutive 4s if that counts...

Spent 10 minutes in the office practicing not extending early, shifting weight, and keeping self1 out of the way.

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
