9/5/15: I absolutely suck at putting, I cannot Hole a goddamn putt to save my life... I would have putted better left handed... I played 30 holes today... 13 in my match, lost 7 and 5... 5 screwing around with the other match in the flight... I didn't make anything worse than bogey, except when I was screwing around after, I couldn't make a putt even then, lipped out 3 15-footers in a row... I don't know I just suck at Golf...played 12 holes after, damn Cornell kids are slow...

I worked on the same thing I did yesterday.  I did some mirror work before showering this morning.  I focused on not over turning my hips during the back swing.

I worked on staying focused.  Keep grinding it out even when your tired.  There is no pause break in an 18 hole round, gotta keep going until the final putt on 18.

5Sept15:

Decided to try something that arrived in a stray e-mail golf tip: hit "toe down, heel up" chip shots. I had heard of it before, but never tried it.

I used an 8i, and rolled the club up slightly on its toe, and hit shot like a putt. It wasn't too bad off of a short lie, and would work well out of one of those close-in moon-crater lies where you don't have enough cushioning under ball to chip with a LW.

Downside: This shot didn't work very well off of fluffier lies, and it was hard to control distance if the shot was longer than about 30 feet.

The assistant pro saw me working on it, and recognized what I was doing. He said it pretty well eliminates fat chip shots, once you get the hang of it,

Probably won't try to use it this late in the season. This is something to play with in April, not September.

Focus, connect and follow through!

Does having a dream about sucking at golf count for this? Last night, I had a dream I was playing a short par-5 against an opponent in a tournament. He pull hooked his shot and i hooked mine into a tree.  My second shot was a push to the right and i remember getting pissed at by-standers because they were talking in my swing... Long story short, it was a bad dream, haha! But no today I worked on my upper body turn around my spine and making sure I'm not pushing forward too much on the downswing.  I did this by doing the drill with taking your arms and holding your opposite shoulders in front of you and just turning back and forth without trying to use too much lower body.

6Sept15:

Did some observation of my swing in a full-length mirror. Need to make sure I don't overswing with my irons - such as "helping" with artificial hand cock at the top.

My Nike Vapor Speed irons have slightly heavier shafts than my other set. If I just let forearms open and shoulders rotate to top, everything is OK at top with right elbow gently handing at side. Any extra "hand help" and bad things happen.

Focus, connect and follow through!

Nice leisurely 2 large buckets over 2.5 hours. Setup the rods, cameras, iPad acting as a mirror. Took my time with each shot. A little too much in fact. Practiced my new putting stroke some more, excited about it.

Oops, a little late reporting my 1.75 large buckets today.

I visiting my mom for her 91st birthday ... I just figured out I can putt on the carpet in one room and it works nice. I got over an hour putting different distances (max of 15 ft) I love my new edel putter.

9/6/15: I played skins today... Putting better, chipping: Awesome... I only hit 3 GIR, but made 8 pars, 3 bogeys and 7 damn doubles... Got a major case of the lefts off the tee the last 5 holes... Hit the damn tree on 14 double a little hook on 15, made a routine par, left the damn birdie putt 1 rotation short... Block a 4i at the 189 yard, par 3, 16th almost in Fall Creek, had an 80 foot chip I hit perfectly, to 5 feet drilled that... Shane's great up and down of the day on 17, is brought to you by: Tall Mounds, and the balls you hit behind them... I pulled another drive off a tree.... Hit my worst iron shot of the day to the right of the green short sided with an eight foot tall mound between the hole and I. I thought, "If I fly this, right on top of the mound, it will kill it just enough to give me a chance, to make par." I hit it just perfect, trickled down the slope to the fringe, and holed a 12 footer for par from the fringe... I had fun today though, shot 89 playing kinda lousy at times and better at others... I guess the chipping practice paid off...

5 minutes with the swing fan.  Then indoor swings.  Back swing slowly then hold the position.  Full turn, feel the tension in the torso muscles.  Half swings, toe up to toe up.  Full swings, full shoulder turn, hip slide/turn, head still and brush the carpet.

Exciting day; a few minutes of rhythmic pitch shots with foam balls off carpet to wind down before bed. And also because keeping my lower body still through impact is something that slips more than it's in place.

    • Day 120 - Played 18; much better than yesterday. Miss right now is off the heel of the club, so I need to sort that out.
    • Today we played Pease Golf Course in Portsmouth, NH. Course was in great shape but my game didn't show up. I will say I pitched and chipped fairly well but almost everything else was very hit or miss. Cost myself a lot hitting an in play drive with pulling my approach shots maybe 85% of the time. Finally figured out I had been swaying most of the round. Only took me until 13 to figure it out. Used what felt like a much more centered turn and the ballstriking improved. 18 tomorrow using a 2 man scramble format. Just looking to contribute. Been a blast though.
    • Day 22: Hit balls with 7-iron using mevo+ to track dispersion. Was out for a long time after work; 86 balls but the first 50+ were 50% swings focusing on top of backswing feel and then just hitting the ball as a psychic reward. Finished with 20 balls close to full speed. Pretty happy with dispersion and also no horrendous misses. I’m chunking my priority piece out into two separate feels, first and more important is the position/balance at top of backswing which is what I was working on. Once I have that engrained I’ll move to transition part.
    • FWIW I never really had issues with the previous generation of Snells. But… I'm not sure I played them a ton, either.
    • I know Dean Snell designed the original Pro V along with a couple of other brands tour balls.  How exactly does the Snell ball have problems.  Did he change something in the design or is a manufacturing error since he cannot afford the unlimited R&D budgets of the big manufacturers to iron out flaws
