How on earth are some of you hitting 4 buckets?! I hope you mean small buckets. I'm pretty sweaty and tired by the end of a large bucket but I am fat I guess......

Maybe THAT'S the reason I don't practice for long, its not an attention-span limit, its excessive girth!

Frankly...I think the article is ignorant and demeaning at some points...We're retired and have about 6 to 10 guys that get together at the range.. we all spend money there and have a good time we play about 2 to 3 times a week...We are all in the 70's to low 80's and we are retired. .we always have young guys coming to us for advice...In our group we have a mini tour player and PGA teacher...and other accomplished players..

I don.t give a rats az what anyone thinks.... we do as we please because we can...

Terrible article. They didn't include any of the real stereotypes I see.

1. The machine gun. Only hits driver and is hitting the next ball before previous even lands.

2. The mutterer. Berates himself every time his bad swing hits a bad shot.

3. Mr. extra innings. Dude who always tries to sneak a few balls off the first 10ft of grass and won't leave until he ends on a good one.

4. Blind leading the blind. 30hc telling his beginner friend he needs to"really roll those forearms".

5. Little leaguer. Hits hit irons off the rubber tee intended for a wood, scares the crap out of everyone when he bangs one into the overhang.

Sprinkle in a couple fellows who look like they know what they're doing and there you go.

Saw another category last night ... shouldn't be at the range with a strained knee.

Late 30's something father with 7 yr old son. Dad isn't hitting balls. He is behind and to the side of 7 yr old who it hitting balls, and Dad is barking orders.

Keep your head still ... shot ...Keep your head still... shot ... I said keep your head still, c'mon son ... shot ... look at that divot ... it's before the ball ... keep your head still ...how can you expect to play? ... look at what you did ... you want the same flight every time ... Keep your head still...

Glad I was almost done. After 20 minutes of this, I gave the range guy about 20 balls and said, "I'm takin' it in."

You got me on #3. I HATE leaving on a bad shot.

What about smokers? Not a fan of smokers on the driving range where it's prohibited, it's a free country, you can do whatever you want, just don't smoke when there are no smoking signs everywhere.

And the guy who sets up right next to you when the range is empty.

And the guy or gal who mishits a ball and it hits you and doesn't acknowledge it.

Recently a guy next to me was teaching his woman friend afaik, he started hitting irons as hard as he could one after another and he would grunt really loudly after each swing. He did this like a dozen times. Oy vey.

    • Yes. If you choose to take the ball out of the bunker instead of taking maximum available relief… it costs a stroke.
    • I got another one today....Number 17. Par 5 that has water left and right on the layup. I smacked a drive down the left side and got a little lazy on the layup and fanned my 6 iron. With 112 to a crowned green I got it to 3 feet and birdie!  Only 5 and 15 is left for this year!
    • Maybe I didn’t explain this properly. Back and front can be confusing.  There was no place in the bunker that didn’t have 2-3 inches of rain water in it, except for a small spot on the slope nearest the pin. If I had dropped there I would be moving 6-7 feet closer to the hole. Since my ball was just inside the bunker, farthest side from the hole, I dropped one club length backward, which brought me out of the bunker. I could not have hit from that deep of water. Are you saying I would have had to take a penalty stroke due to rain water?
    • Day 550, May 5, 2024 Got a good hour in with a typical (for me) two-stick setup: pool noodle angled in front, yardstick on the ground angled 45° behind me.
    • Day 130: Cinco de Mayo Day 7/24 of Full Speed Spectrum training. Difficult training day after struggling to certify my warmup yesterday, and today. Finished 13 mph lower than my training speed on Thursday. Hope to hit some balls today.
