I've seen more fluid executions… He isn't moving very fast when he's at "the top of the backswing" position.

Natalie and I and some of the college golfers do this for the heck of it. One guy can't help but hit about a foot behind the ball for some reason… :-) It's tougher than it looks, but… pausing at A4 makes it easier. ;-)

dull as dishwater this lad, not much personality imo. happy gilmore drive about the most cringeworthy thing any pro can do? :mellow:

At 4:40, they say that Padraig hits 30yds further using the Happy Gilmore technique. Then they analyze why.  Clubhead speed goes from 107 to 114mph, theoretically due to the larger shoulder turn. (but then they get into x-factor a bit)

TBH, you can see him slow down before he hits the ball, so the extra swing speed is from him really trying to gun it. Look at how fast he turns after he plants.

 

I also don't think that after a certain point shoulder turn would add that much power. But that's just an opinion.

I don't think it's the shoulder turn, it looks to me like is the added forward momentum and swinging all out.
