After a dismal +18 round on Saturday and a few other recently bad rounds I shot an even par 71 yesterday (Raven's Claw in Pottstown, PA). The only round I have ever had better than that was a -1 earlier this season. So after a brief celebration last night, adult drinks, I woke up this morning and my first thought was should I end the season on that note? It was a gorgeous day, no clouds, nice temperature, no wind, great company (3 guys I met on the course) and a great round. That would be a great round to end on.

I only took a few moments to decide there is no way I want to stop but wondered what others would do in the same situation? If this late in the season you shot 1 higher than your best score ever would you hang up the clubs since it so close to the end of the season? If you are in an area where you can play all year round....... well then I hate you.

I tied my season-low of 74 last Saturday, and it never even crossed my mind to end my season right there.  I always get to Pinehurst for Thanksgiving, and usually get to play 6 or even 8 rounds over the week.  That's almost always the end of my real golf season, no matter how good or bad I play.  Courses here in Northern Virginia typically will be open unless snow-covered, but I'm just not that motivated to put on 6 layers and play when its good and cold.  I'll play a random round  through the next couple of months if the temps are likely to be about 38 or 40 at tee time, but that's motivated more to hang out with my golf buddies than it is for real golf.

Nah. If its golf-able, I play golf.

A couple years ago, my last round before the White Death came was a personal-best for me. The thought kept me warm for awhile, but I pissed myself when I didn't come close to it when the stuff finally melted over a month later.

Don't be a hater....

The end of your season is when it starts to get good down here.  Record highs this week in Tampa.  90+ degrees.  I forgot my sunscreen on the front side last weekend and got a sunburn.  But along with the good weather comes high prices.

We're dealing with leaves on the courses, and now very soft ground from all the rain. One more day of possible golf tomorrow unless it decides to rain. Then it's rain for the next week and reporting season is over. And it's getting cold. Low 50s? I don't play.

If snow were forecast for the next day, I would consider putting the clubs in the basement, otherwise, play on.

I wouldn't mind ending handicap season with a good round. Honestly wouldn't mind just being able to get out there a couple times before we end 11/15. Unlikely I will get a chance. After work golf ended with moving the clocks back and even Sat. is tough because I work until 2PM. That leaves just this Sunday and my right hand is toast from a fall jogging so it is what it is. I typically golf thanksgiving and with the bum hand it's not looking good. Haven't touched a club in weeks.

Glad to see everyone seems to be down with the 'golf on' mindset. The worst part, or best depending on your view, is the score doesn't count for my Handicap since the offseason begins 11/1. The scorecard is on my wall at work but can't be posted on GHIN. Oh well.

Well since we're in the low 50s I've packed it in. Sorry. I hate cold and wet for golf.

I'm normally die hard and play all winter providing the ground isn't covered in snow.  My son got me started bowling and he now bowls in tournaments and golf takes a winter backseat.   I'm either bowling or watching him bowl this time of year...LOL

When he grows up, I figure I'll have the rest of my life to play winter golf.

There is an end to the golf season???

Never heard of such a thing.  The only time I don't play is when the course is closed due to snow, but most of the winters, they stay open here in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains.

I shot my lowest score ever yesterday, 83 but as long as the weather holds out I plan to go out there and try to break 80.
