I know Lord Byron played in 1946. I did NOT write that he retired IMMEDIATELY after winning 18 times with 11 in a row. I simply wrote that he retired AFTER he accomplished what NO ONE has ever matched and NO ONE ever will!

Seriously that is s violation of logic. Nelson did retire one year after 1945. By your reasoning, Jack retired in 1963. Tiger will be glad to hear that. With 14 Majors, he will move from 3rd place to SECOND, behind Hagen's 15 (I refer you to my "Happy Birthday, Haig" thread!)

Do you just say ridiculous things to get a response?

But I am sure everyone knew that when you said AFTER you meant precisely ONE YEAR after.

And a clue:  "By your reasoning" does not mean what you appear to think it means based on your usage above.

But then again, what the hell do I know?

Okay, then I'm just going to go around saying "Jack Nicklaus retired after winning the 1962 U.S. Open."

Why say something like that when you know it's not true?

Exactly, it doesn't make sense, that's the point. It's @iacas's response to this post:

Speaking of retirement, I am glad that I am only semi-retired. I work 30 hours a week as the bookkeeper at a Hannaford's grocery store and 30+ hours running my own golf business. I still find time yo play golf 5 times a week, usually 9 hole rounds!

28 and 34 is not the same as maybe 40, and it's not like Tiger isn't already in good company, what with all his victories. He will be remembered for his performance either way, not that he possibly retired at age 40.

On a slightly related note, has anyone seen numbers on which age the average PGA player retires?

It is true.

Jack Nicklaus retired after winning the 1962 U.S. Open. He didn't retire before winning it! Or is your contention that he hasn't yet retired? :-)

I think both you and Mitch are missing the point… which was a response to Mitch's earlier post.

Anyway, this isn't really on topic either, so… let's get back to that, yes, please?
