Not sure I get what the purpose of this is, I get the jump move, but the full turn in the air is to encourage more rotation?

Well, you answered your own question in a way… it's important to do two things: get your weight forward and keep up your rates of rotation.

I wonder if the tendency for those who don't have enough lateral forward, when they add it, they "forget" the rotational. After they get comfortable with the lateral, they "add" in the rotation?

i find that i have to consciously think about both - i know that if i dont tell myself to get the weight forward it wont get there, and then i tend to get too lateral so i have to consciously add the "turn" part. but it feels like a two-stage process for me, hips forward and then turn.

IME, I think I overdid the lateral and not enough rotational. So used to hearing OTT is really bad, afraid to turn.

I am with you on this one, @colin007. Those two items seem to always want to run away from me. I also have to remember to get back to the basics here (and doing the drills helps a lot) and going through the swing in slow motion. In fact, I just came in from my backyard and was working on these two items (along with the shoulder turn).

Yea the drill there is to learn how to jump while rotating. The rotation aspect changes the footwork so that you're applying some torque as you jump, otherwise you'd just jump straight up and that's not a golf motion.
