Great video, I'm now a Kevin Kisner fan.  He seems like a great guy.  I would discourage him from having any more cart races.  Anything that could damage the course or the carts is pretty much off limits imo.

I think I watched the video all the way through but I didn't see that any carts got damaged . . .maybe the one that hit the bump needs an alignment, though.

I think that sort of thing goes on at various golf courses and gets nothing more than a stern warning.  I know I did something similar when I was 16 with a buddy of mine and that's what happened - stern warning.

Kicked out of the club, unless it's strictly for show to discourage such abuse or for liability reasons . . seems a little excessive.

I'm sure he's not having trouble getting tee times anywhere.

This video was great.  I've never rooted for Kisner since he always seems to be battling other players that I'd rather see win but I will definitely be pulling for him a little more now.  I really enjoy seeing these types of videos and the SB2K16 videos that Fowler and Kaufman were posting--- they show that the players enjoy playing golf and don't take things too seriously.

Maybe it's because I've never belonged to a private club, but the funny thing is that when I first watched the video (knowing that he got suspended from the club for it) I thought it was the open talk of gambling and cash exchanging hands that would have gotten him in hot water and not the cart race.

So Kisner is re-instated at the Palmetto Club, after a short (involuntary) hiatus.  What I found interesting was his quote:

Quote

"It was super odd," he said. "I was totally blindsided by it. I think we've learned and we'll move past it."

Obviously he's a fun-loving regular Joe kinda guy, but those words don't help him look too bright.  How can he NOT understand that banging up the club's carts would become a problem?  Blindsided?  :hmm:

There must have been some misunderstanding/miscommunication somewhere.  I would expect that when you want to film something like that you would need permission from the club and the club would want to know exactly what you wanted to do.  Perhaps the club officials simply said, "help yourself" and assumed they would keep it within reason (i.e., not race carts)?

That makes sense to me, I can't imagine that he just invited a film crew to join his normal group of golfers without asking someone for permission.  We'll almost certainly never hear the details about what the club may or may not have approved, nor of the discussions that led to either his suspension or his reinstatement.

In future maybe the club should think about stipulating they get to approve any footage shot on their property before broadcast - possibly with a bit of editing the film could still have aired and they wouldn't have had to deal with the hassle.  Once it was shown publicly though they may have felt that they had to act.

It could of course all be a marketing ploy to get more people to watch the video but if that was the case I'm not sure the club came out too well.  I ended up thinking Kisner seems like a good guy who must feel a bit down that he has sunk all that cash into a family home backing onto that course!

Now we really need a member of Palmetto to give us some more info.  Are the cart races a normal approved activity, and it only became an issue once the video aired?

Maybe it's just the way they normally act at the club and the club got embarrassed by the behavior?

I got to play this course right after he was suspended. The people there are a little bit up tight even though the course isnt that great. Its more about the history of the club. Also the first hole is so steep it would be difficult not to want to race down it atleast once.
