I wanted to ask how you felt about the fact that these guys are walking back on some of their promises?

Host: "The 350 million pounds a week that we send to the E.U., which we will no longer send to the E.U., can you guarantee that's going to go to the NHS [Britain's National Health Service]?"

Farage: "No, I can't, and I would never have made that claim. It is one of the mistakes that, I think, the 'leave' campaign made."

Host: "Hold on a moment. That was one of your adverts."

They then sparred over whether it was the "leave" campaign's advertisement or Farage's in particular, before moving on. The advertisement was the campaign's, not Farage's.

Host: "That's why many people voted."

Farage: "They made a mistake doing that."

Host: "You're saying after 17 million people have voted for 'leave,' based — I don't know how many people voted on the basis of that advert, but that was a huge part of the propaganda —you're now saying that's a mistake?"

Absolutey. In my opinion this kind of racism and xenophobia is a much, much bigger threat in GB than immigration is.

The question many people ask (including myself) is why are most of the refugees healthy 18 - 30 year old men who seem to be running from their country rather than staying to fight for it.  I don't think the world has issue with offering sanctuary to women and children.

You can't change people overnight, and I think England has come a long way in the 3 decades since I lived there. I always thought that the internationalization of London and Cambridge could lead to trouble.

I stated it jokingly about it earlier, but many British are even "racist" acting towards the Irish and acted indignant to Germans when I was living there. I was called racist slurs even by people who somewhat liked me and were considered more liberal living in a region that was educated.

Holland and the other Northern European countries were completely different, people were friendly. Some cautious, but even they were friendly. Germany was mixed, but everyone was polite.

There's an obvious cultural difference.

We send the EU £350m per week. In return we get £160m back to spend on projects the EU sees fit. Therefore the EU either costs £350m or £190m per week, depending on how you want to view it. In reply to your question, the Leave campaigners said that this is money we COULD spend on the NHS, not WOULD. There are only 3 countries in the EU who put in more money than they get out, France, Germany, and the UK. In short, 3 countries subsidies 25. The only thing we have ever got out of it is trading agreements, which can be agreed without a very expensive membership fee. As a result of us leaving, we don't have to donate billions of pounds every year to a corrupt boys club, we don't have to abide by their ridiculous laws and regulations, and we don't have to open our borders to millions of people who will take our jobs, fill our prisons, fill our schools, and use our health service. Instead, we can let in the people we see fit and will benefit our country. Of course, there is no guarantee our incompetent government will actually do this, but as  voters we have to give them the opportunity !!

If the UK truly believes they would benefit more from being outside the EU then fine. A country has its right to it's sovereignty. They just have to accept the consequences of being outside the EU.

I have no opinion as to what he is saying is brilliant or stupid, but I can't get that joke about "Most punchable face magazine" while he talks. :-D

One of my coworker's cousins, who is from Iran voted for Leave. My coworker said all the wealthy people wanted Leave and why they do, and his reasoning kind of jives with what this man is saying. Not sure if that's good or bad or true or false?

However, he is not really speaking for the entire UK. That bond could dissolve more readily than EU. Historically, the English have not treated Northern Ireland and Scotland all that well.

No, and you did't treat the indigenous people of the U.S very well either. That isn't me having a pop, it's about putting history behind us. As a matter of interest, the Scots receive considerably more money per head than the English do, and this why they have free prescriptions and education. It is the choice of the Northern Irish people to be part of the UK, despite what some terrorists may have told you.

There will be a border between Northern Ireland and Ireland, and many in Northern Ireland want to reunify with Ireland.

Scotland might also vote out of the UK even though their economy depends heavily upon oil. EU is much more powerful than England and could entice them away for their oil. The United States invaded Iraq for basically a small amount of oil and a trillion dollar plus price tag. EU can just buy it for the cost of maintaining their infrastructure.

I don't fully agree with what is stated here, but it's interesting to hear what Ken Livingston has to say.

I think the United States will back Britain during the transition. I feel really bad that UK might be torn apart. . .

It's funny that the British are now objecting to other people entering their country after having done that very thing for a millennium.

Seems you find the site kinda boring today too.  Waiting for someone to mention the UK market is near back to pre-Brexit levels.  Or to cite the need for gun control in Turkey.  Ho hum.  ;-)

Kind of quiet on Turkey, seems some only care when guns are involved.

As for Brexit, was a great day in stock market for me.  The panic is over and those who knew when and where to invest did well.

Many of us predicted it would rebound within a week or so, but not quite this fast?

The GDP of England only represents less than 3% of the world economy, and less so in the next decade or so now that it will become "independent".

I'm really unsure that EU will continue to purchase anything from England after this debacle. EU buys things from England because they were part of the EU, but their products and services could be replaced very quickly by Asian companies who are just waiting for the right moment to pounce. China's heavy industries have been building up for the last 2 decades and their markets are growing for products like the Airbus. This vote has given the world a legitimate reason to allow those types of companies to jump in and replace English made goods with Asian ones.

Given the fact that the pro-Leave campaigners were just as surprised as everyone else upon their victory, I doubt they addressed all the issues related with trade. The world is not easy any more, and the English do not have the upper hand in this deal even with Farage "demanding" that the EU continue to trade with England without tariffs. That's pretty much all he could do, and hope. Everyone in the room was scoffing doubtfully, because he has no idea how many industries are tied to the EU ranging from pillows to military and commercial aircraft.

So, while there is a temporary rebound for England's markets, I am pretty sure it will start to unfold in a bad way for them over the next decade or so as their products are replaced with ones from other members of the EU and/or Asia and as their banks move out.

That's a good cautious answer, but I think it will really make no difference to the rest of the world. In the end, England could be affected a lot. Could be devastating.

English heavy industries will most likely have to find a new market, as the EU seems pretty bitter about the separation. Who would be the largest consumer? USA? China? India? Canada? Australia? Who?

I'm also pretty sure that the Scottish and Northern Irish are trying to distance themselves from England as their votes went 62% Remain to 32% Leave. Northern Ireland voted only 44% Leave.

"The regulation of guns in Turkey is categorised as restrictive"

Guns are generally involved in every crime of this type, but gun laws seem to have very little effect on the occurrences.

Yes, but I think it's only temporary. If EU holds together, it will be very bad for England in the long run.

Glad to hear you did well today.

In terms of Turkey, guns were involved, which is why I framed my post that way.  I didn't hear Erdogan (sp?) mention the need to remove guns from those select few there that own them legally.  Strange....or not?
