I kinda like Adam Scott for this. For having 2 wins this year, he almost had flown right under the radar. Think a softened Troon would set up nicely for him to get some redemption in the UK.

I was thinking Scott or Rose are decent bets. I also like Garcia even though I know he like to choke on Sundays.

Yeah Sergio seems like a different player these days. UK might be a good shot for him as he has a good history there.

If the wind doesn't blow, I really think the winner will come from the top 4 in the world. Those 4 are frighteningly close to owning the last 8 major championships played. I've been putting my money on those 4 guys almost every major since Hoylake '14 when I bet Rory and those guys have won me some good amount of cash. The odds are in there favor, but weather has a way of taking out the best in the world. Bottom line....don't make a bet in Vegas until the week of the tourney and after you've looked at the weather forecast.

Rory will probably crack the top 15, but not compete. He's putting is horrible.

I could see DJ winning another. The guy's been playing really good golf this year. He's been up there at The Open before.

My buddies and I have been wondering what through US Open win will do for DJ. He's got enough ability to win all the majors. I just wonder if winning gets the monkey off his back and gives him the confidence to win a few more. Or will he kinda relax and stop working as hard now that he has one.

He'd a good win in Germany last week and seems to be in control.

His odds are tumbling. Good EW bet.

Rory putts better on slow greens, though. It's the quick ones that give him problems. Early indications are Troon will play soft like Liverpool did two years ago where Rory won.

Btw, watching Wimbledon shows you the weather problems they've got in the UK this summer. They can't get through the first round there bc of the rain and they're worried because the next 2 weeks call for nothing but rain. And if it's bad in London, you know it's bad in Scotland.

Thats true, i was about to write the same thing. But Oakmont played softer than usual too and he didn't show anything there at all.

Well it played soft by Oakmont standards. Greens were still much quicker than they'll be at Troon, although Rory had problems with other parts of his game as well a couple weeks ago. Needs to straighten that driver out.

DJ is just gonna tee it up and see what happens....if he is on his game, he contends and very easily can win......if he hits it a bit sideways, he doesn't.....just like always...do not think his demeanor changes at all....

Guess that covers it.

Love these answers.   It's not my favorite (I'd say it's in my top 4 majors ;)) but I do still agree with all of these.  Well, except for 5 - as I've never been to the UK.

Psst ... it's actually in my Top 3 majors.  The PGA is definitely my "least" favorite of the 4.

I like the early morning viewing too. Only the US Open, when it's in Cali, is better due to evening viewing. Both leave room for playing during the day.

I really like when they had the US Open at Chambers for viewing. It really set up nice for me to view it after work 3 time zones away :)

I never found The Open to be convenient to watch on TV. I always enjoyed The Open because we hardly see a course like the ones they have over there.

The Golf Channel is literally going sunrise to sunset with coverage. Live coverage starts at 1:30 AM and goes until 4 PM on Thursday and Friday. If you live in Cali you can watch live golf before you go to bed. Kinda cool.

It's like living in Europe and watch the PGA Tour ;-)

I just saw on WGC coverage that Troon just voted to allow female members.

And Tiger withdrew. Duh.
