just curious what you guys who tinker have setup. im rocking the beloved macgregor vip wedge shafts. this is my second time ill consider reshafting.

i play in colorado. long bentgrass. i generally use my 58 more than anything the ball will stop quickly with little to no runout. im recently played bermuda in ocala while on leave, and saw the same kind of spin but with a bit more rollout. i could still pitch very aggresively and stop the ball with ease. i play a 54 and 58 setup. i have a PM grind 60 in the bag for tight around the greens in cabbage but im not happy with the shaft feel or length. (i like my wedges around the same as my pw) give you an idea i can flight the ball lower with my 58 than my 60 but with a ton more spin. theoretically my 60, if i want it to play even, should stop quicker with a steeper decent into the green but thats not the case.

my only concern is that spin tranlates to most shots i try from open faced to lean chips. the spin is immense and sometimes holds me short of ideal on the greens. although it looks good

HAHAHHA

what i play?

the 54 is a dg sensicore s300 thats started to squeak a bit (probably normal)f

the 58 is a standard dynamic gold s300

OR IS IT?

one of them is softstepped from an 8 iron, i just dont know which. the other was cut to play the same and honestly they feel and bend very similar. kudos to the GOLF ETC. rep that no longer has a store to work at (thanks local sports store for undercutting)

i was considering c-taper shafts but would love the short game spin. the 58 will still work out of bunkers and certain shots like downhill chips, etc. and i dont want the 54 to be a gapper and the 58 to be a short game club. wanna maintain consistency

also considering regular kbs tour 9orPW softstep to hold spin but tighten feel and dispersion.

or considering going with an s400 in the same softstepped 8 iron shaft. maybe the weight will cut spin a slight bit

just looking for what you guys play to rack my brain and maybe even give me some new tweaking ideas for my wedges. thanks guys and gals

anybody play kbs, TT, Nippon, etc. Aerotech?

My gap wedge matches my iron set so I have a KBS Tour 105 Stiff Shaft in my gap wedge. In my 54° and 58° wedges, I have True Temper Dynamic Gold Wedge Shafts in those wedges... It's a big jump in weight from 110g in my GW to 130g in my 54° and 58° but I like the heavier feel in my scoring clubs.

Calla X20 Tour PW 46* and Cle CG14 GW 50* = NS Pro 8950GH R-flex (97 grams)

CG14 SW 54* and LW 58* = KBS Tour Wedge, R.flex (110 grams)

(NS Pro is same shaft I have in my irons).

The CG14s came with the stock TRAction shaft, a softer tip, firmer butt offering that weighed 125 grams. (Similar to first-generation Spinner shafts: more spin, lower launch).

When I went to the NS Pro shafts in my irons, I started leaving partial CG14 wedge shots short: the 125-gram to 97-gram weight difference messed up my tempo.

thanks for the post. especially on your comment of "heavier feel"

personal preference in the wedges i think is pretty important. some people dont realize that setups can be very specific to the player.

yea having weight in the shaft is pretty important. ive considered trying KBS tour-v shafts in my 54 because its really only a full and partial swing club, not often used for short game. maybe the occasional long bunker

i had 8950gh in my irons and spun them up too much. but id consider them in wedges with some tip trimming

thanks for the post i appreciate it

I was supposed to have x100's put into my wedges (52, 56, 60) but golf galaxy screwed it up and put x300's in them.

Even though i use Dynamic Gold x100 in my irons and hybrids, I've always just used the "wedge flex" shaft that titliest wedges usually come with. I feel like I'm never swinging a wedge hard enough for flex to really matter that much, anyway. Maybe I'm missing out on something there, i dont know. But short game is my strength as a player, so why mess with it?

The XP105 comes in R300 (100 grams) and S300 (101 grams) flexes. Both give a mid-high launch. These are the successor to the old Dynalite Gold, the high-launch cousin of the low-launch Dynamic Golf.

The Dynamic Gold S300 weighs 130 grams, and has a low launch. That said, it is a bit more flexible than the ProjectX 6.0 or some of the stiff KBS C-Tapers. The extra flex would allow for more spin on partial wedge shots.

(Many of the DG Wedge Flex shafts used by various OEMs are S200 or S300 shafts).

XP 105 is a lighter, higher launch shaft.  I like the shaft in my irons and since I hit my gap wedge like a regular iron I kept the same shaft.

I have a trio of Vokey SM5 wedges (52.08 F, 56.10 M, and 60.08 M) that I put one variant or another of the KBS Hi-Rev shafts in. I put the Hi-Rev 2.0 in the 56 and 60 to maximize the spin, but an original Hi-Rev in the gap wedge for a little bit more distance to fill out the gap better.

I decided to have a tt xp 95 shaft put in a Nike engage 58 wedge i had laying around. I never had the same shaft in a wedge as my irons. I am curious if I will notice a difference.

Wow. The XP shaft in my Nike wedge is awesome. Very confident in each swing with a shaft I am used to swinging.

    • A bit of background. The Southern California Golf Association (SCGA) runs an annual event known as "Team Play." It is a wildly popular match play competition where Men's Clubs across the region put together teams of 20+ golfers together to compete against other clubs in a 16 vs. 16 match. In any given year, approximately 80-100 clubs will participate. Each club is grouped into "pods" of 4, and will play 6 total matches - one home and one away match against the other 3 clubs. The winning club from each pod advances to the Team Play Playoffs - a single elimination format - until a winner is crowned.  Antelope Valley Country Club just advanced to the championship match for the 3rd consecutive year. They won the championship in both 2022 and 2023.  Based on my review of the match history from the past 3 years (linked below), they have won 21 consecutive team matches. Keep in mind, these are handicapped matches, so this is not just a case where a group of sticks bands together to dominate the poor amateurs other SoCal clubs. Even if these guys are grinders who never quit, play their best under pressure and routinely putt the lights out, the law of averages still say that a streak of that nature is mathematically impossible.  Is there any plausible explanation beyond institutionalized sandbagging throughout the club? • Interesting that Scottie is #10 on the all time money list and he's been on the PGAT for 4 years. Of course, purses are bigger now, but  neat to look at non-the-less.  The list of top 18 money winners in PGA Tour history has plenty of surprises This list is updated through the 2024 RBC Heritage. To add, Scottie won 4.5 million at the Players, Jack played 44 seasons and won a little of 5 million on course.

Squat when I stand back up I lift the kettlebell up over and behind my head and hold then repeat
