I know nothing of Zero Hedge. Β The article links to BLM's actual docs.

In that case, I withdraw my scoff, I'll see what the links contain.

However, that website is known for being conspiratorial in nature while constantly being in doom and gloom mode about finances.

BLM or some other organization that CK may or may not support? Β I can't seeΒ any direct link between the two, but I haven't looked very hard. Are you sure it's the same group?

Not sure I understand the question. Β I Googled BLM manifest, or somesuch, found that site and clicked on what I believe are BLM'S demands, complaints, etc. Β I don't think the site made them up cuz they matched up with what I had heard on the news earlier this month. Β It's disturbing stuff.

Back to CK, has anyone brought up the "Pig" socks that he was wearing. Sorry if it has. I missed a few pages of this madness.

http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/49ers/2016/09/01/police-reaction-colin-kaepernick-pig-socks-san-francisco/89715672/

I personally think it's one thing to make a statement about what you believe such as the not standing for the national anthem. I don't think it was exactly well thought out by him, but it was within reason.

The socks thing just pushes it over the line into the "he's an ass" realm for me. Wearing socks that represent all police officers as pigs is something that indicates to me the pig is the one wearing the socks. There are police officers who should not be in service, yes, but that number is far, far outweighed by the number of people who take low-paying and high risk jobs to help out their communities. Those people aren't pigs, but you'd never know it from the socks you see and words you hear.

I don't necessarily agree he had a lot to lose, at least from what I gather about his future in football based on what people have said in this thread. I can concede that he opened himself up to threats though, which I don't agree with at all. I don't care what anyone says or does via peaceful protest, they don't deserve to be threatened with harm.

If he gets cut, I'm sure the socks will be a factor as he's become a distraction to the team and if he's not starting they don't need an attention ***** on the sideline. Β

Nice post. Right on the money, IMO.

Even as a kid growingΒ up with the unsavory crowd I hung out with, I knew better than to push (figuratively or literally)Β a cop. Many LEOs will approach you with a chip on their shoulder until you show them a little respect. It's really not that hard. And if you are unfortunate enough to encounter one who is a real a-hole, there's still a right way to handle that situation. I wish community leaders would try and send that message to younger folks.

Police officers volunteer for overtime to provide security to the 49'ers. Β It's fully within their right to not perform voluntary Β overtime if they choose not to. Β The 49'ers will now have to hire outside contractors to provide these services. Β It's not part of their job as police officers to provide this voluntary overtime so they aren't doing anything wrong.

Many of you support repercussions toΒ those who make non-PC comments, quoting their freedom of speech only protects them from government action not private sector, I see it the same way in this instance. Β The 49'ers are employing a player who is indirectly placing their lives at risk and tarnishing their reputation so they have the right not to support him or the team.Β

The socks are only dumbΒ because of the anthem sitting. Β They wouldnt be any kind of news on their own. Β It would be like finding out that Donald Trump likes to sign everything with one of those naked lady pens or something.

I do think that the socks probably somewhat diminish his message a bit.

They definitely do. There is nothing constructive about wearing them.

It is like protesting a war...if you hold peace rallies, that's cool. If you burn a flag or sit for the anthem,Β you're going to piss people off, even if others think it'sΒ defensible. If you start spitting on soldiers as they come home from Vietnam,Β you're a ****ing asshole.

I haven't read anything on how the union came to the position they took, my guess is there was a vote but I could be wrong. Β

I also agree the whole situation is asinine. Β I'd like to see CK do a bit more for those he believes are oppressed than sit out the anthem and wear stupid socks.
