P.P.S. Honestly, this whole thing pisses me off. I feel like we were robbed of seeing some great golf played by an universally marketable (to the Asian markets AND to the U.S. markets) American gal. I wanted Michelle to inspire thousands of girls to play golf.

Leadpoison handcuffs Wie’s talent.

I want to fight David Leadbetter. I wasn't a fan of the work he did with Lydia Ko, either, and was very, very happy when she gave him the boot.

I have to agree. When Wie came on the LPGA Tour I thought we were witnessing an incandescent talent. A female Tiger Woods, if you will!

Yet, after all these years, what does she have to show for the effort? Not that many titles, and certainly not the career that so many had envisioned for her, and that I'm sure she envisioned for herself.

I don't know what kind of hold Bedwetter has on her, but this is partly her fault, I think if my swing instructor told me to take a stance where my feet are twice as wide apart as my shoulders, I'd have a few questions!

I don't know. There's a reason we seek out experts in the things we do. Leadbetter has a long, successful track record, going back thirty years. Plenty of times my instructor has had me doing things that looked and felt counter-intuitive that made me a better player. I get why she would listen.

Wies younger Swing was very special.  She did a few things under led man that were very unconventional.  It’s not that I have a problem with being unconventional at all,  but if it’s being directed by him....I think it’s very suspect.

His a swing manipulated move never really caught on did it?

I like this a little bit better than that awkward wide-stance, hang-back, softball-hitter style driver swing. But only a little.

Looks pretty normal to me. But is that because she's practicing her wedges? Then again im not the most educated in the golf swing.

What are your thoughts Erik?

Dave's a very "hands on" sort of teacher isnt he? :-P

They're pretty limited, because I am not having a conversation with Michelle, seeing the shots she's hitting, etc.

Perhaps her body can't do what it once could do ... who knows how she works out, her dedication, etc.

It can't, but I don't think that her current swing is an example of asking her body to do "less" or "easier" things. If anything it almost looks like more a more stressing swing.

Agreed that it looks more stressed/tight. As one compares the 2004 swing, the squat at address seems much more pronounced than 2004 and the feet are wider apart. The arms also look tense at address.

    • Day 120 - Played 18; much better than yesterday. Miss right now is off the heel of the club, so I need to sort that out.
    • Today we played Pease Golf Course in Portsmouth, NH. Course was in great shape but my game didn't show up. I will say I pitched and chipped fairly well but almost everything else was very hit or miss. Cost myself a lot hitting an in play drive with pulling my approach shots maybe 85% of the time. Finally figured out I had been swaying most of the round. Only took me until 13 to figure it out. Used what felt like a much more centered turn and the ballstriking improved. 18 tomorrow using a 2 man scramble format. Just looking to contribute. Been a blast though.
    • Day 22: Hit balls with 7-iron using mevo+ to track dispersion. Was out for a long time after work; 86 balls but the first 50+ were 50% swings focusing on top of backswing feel and then just hitting the ball as a psychic reward. Finished with 20 balls close to full speed. Pretty happy with dispersion and also no horrendous misses. I’m chunking my priority piece out into two separate feels, first and more important is the position/balance at top of backswing which is what I was working on. Once I have that engrained I’ll move to transition part.
    • FWIW I never really had issues with the previous generation of Snells. But… I'm not sure I played them a ton, either.
    • I know Dean Snell designed the original Pro V along with a couple of other brands tour balls.  How exactly does the Snell ball have problems.  Did he change something in the design or is a manufacturing error since he cannot afford the unlimited R&D budgets of the big manufacturers to iron out flaws
