IIRC Rose had to wait a while when he won his title.

Thanks;  much better example.  In my head the example was Snedeker at the Farmers Insurance Open.  Glad there's a U.S. Open example to come up with.

You can do what Phil did yesterday. The cost is just a few thousand fans and your integrity within your profession.

What's a few thousand fans among a million.  Also, this does nothing to his integrity.  Fool thing to do, absolutely, but hardly what many are making of it.

I guess if we're looking for new "needle movers" for the 2020s, back-to-back US Opens in the dying days of the 2010s provides some hope.

I hope Brooks wins this thing today. And then bags a PGA in a few weeks' time to add to his collection.

Dustin wants to win, but Brooks isn't going to give up.  That approach on 16... wow.  I'm not a big fan of laying up on par-5s, but I wonder if it makes more sense in a U.S. Open.

Yup.  I wonder how many players in the field were born when it happened.  I had Kindergarden in between Strange's two wins.

The wind today is essentially requiring it if one wants to play the odds.  And that from the biggest hitters in the game.

Right, so the thing I'm wondering is if the wind is affecting the situation that the pros normally hit it closer from 50 yards than from 125 yards.  Maybe there isn't a layup zone 50 yards out?

Yes, and Brad knows more about it, too. Kinda annoying comment.
