The MP-63s have been replaced by the MP64s which look great too - both a one piece forging from a solid billet and both beautiful. Most Mizuno staffers use something else, so looks and sound tuning aside, there are probably better Mizuno performers.

The AP2 is in it's second generation (at least - some companies tweak their player lines annually without fanfare) and although pieced together from a mish mash of forged and non-metallic pieces is also a beautiful iron. It's seen in the bags of a high percentage of Titleist staffers so it must be a good stick. It seems to rival the MB for bag count.

Mizuno MP600 driver, Cleveland '09 Launcher 3-wood, Callaway FTiz 18 degree hybrid, Cleveland TA1 3-9, Scratch SS8620 47, 53, 58, Cleveland Classic 2 mid-mallet, Bridgestone B330S, Sun Mountain four5.

Third, I believe, FWIW. They had the original ones, the 710, and the 712.

I haven't hit any Mizuno clubs, but from a few sessions with the 712 AP2s, I have to say they will be my next iron set ! I won't need new irons until next year though, but I found them forgiving for a forged club.

Titleist 913D2 9.5 (UST VTS 65)

Titleist 913F 15 (Diamana S+)

Titleist 913H 19 (Diamana S+)

I had a friend offer to buy my iron set if I decided to upgrade my clubs... 300 bucks for some used clubs I paid 600 for ain't too bad IMO.

Keep chugging that Acushnet kool aid guys, these clubs are about as "forged" as PING eye2s.

Sean is right, only the face is forged on the AP2's.  Titleist CB's and MB's are fully forged heads.

They fold it in during the forging process.

What's with all the Titeist hate? The AP2s are the best irons money can buy.

Nobody's hatin' on on Titleist. They make great products, including the AP2  - a multi-material players cavity back iron in the bag of many top professionals. It's no slouch. What's tres funny though, is the powerful thirst people have for Acushnet's marketing BS. They're forged - it says so on that bar on the back (psst . . . the bar is the bit that's forged).

So only the "bar" is forged?  The same "bar" that is attached to the face and made of the same material?  Last time I looked it was the face making contact with the ball.  If Titleist's marketing this as a forged club is BS perhaps you could enlighten the masses why its not? Or are you suggesting that because its a " multi-material players cavity back iron" it couldnt possibly be described as forged?

Forged are advertised as being more dense or solidly compacted over cast. While that may be true, castings have improved greatly over the last 15 years. Callaway was once known as having "hot" spots in their castings. You don't hear that any longer. Haven't' heard it in about 10 years.

The bar and the face are forged, but the rest is cast and made of other materials.  There are a number of clubs that only have a forged face, pretty sure the TaylorMade MC's are forged face only as well.   It's not a traditional forged club like the Titleist CB, MB or the Mizuno MP-XX's.  I think the point Sean is making is that Titleist marketing knows that some golfers are looking for forged clubs so marketing the AP2's as a forged club and placing it in the same category as the CB's and MB's is a bit of a stretch.

    • I’m not sure I agree. It’s just what the majority find more entertaining. Most people prefer women’s gymnastics over men in the Olympics. How much hype is there with the men’s compared to the women’s? I bet you can rattle off several big names in women’s gymnastics and only a handful of men. Women’s tennis …same thing. And sure enough, their purses are the same. However, WNBA, awful…LPGA, not near as much interest than PGA. Don’t think it’s really that complicated IMO.

    • Hence your Avatar!😜 I drink a lot of water during the day if I’m playing or exercising. I get cramps otherwise.
    • If you walk up to a food/drink kiosk at Magic Kingdom and ask the person for a cup of "magic water" they will give you a small cup of Sprite for free. About 3 fingers worth. They don't sell alcohol at MK anymore so I go over to one of the courses while she hangs out there.
    • This isn't some kind of natural fact. It's a lot more complicated than this implies.
