I was visiting in northern Ohio last week and played a round with my uncle.  Using golflink.com, which seems to be affiliated with golfnow.com, I was able to get greens fees for $12 for 18 holes including cart ($31 out the door with taxes and fees for two players).  It was a very average course, with only a few noteworthy holes, but with all the rain this season, it was in nice shape.  Before I unsubscribed, I received several daily e-mails from golfnow.com for the Toledo area and saw some deals that were as low as $6, $8, or $10 a round including cart; I'm not familiar with those courses and didn't bother to look up whether they were 9 or 18 hole courses, but it seems that at least in that area, there is some very cheap golf available.

Cheapest I've paid in Wis. this year was $22 with cart via an isolated super-cheapie golfnow.com deal that was $54 at full price, although I've had some $13.50 ($15 w/tax and fees) rounds last year walking via a local promotional company similar to Groupon.

How cheap is the cheapest round you've played lately?  Is NW Ohio the cheapest place in the country to play or does it get even less expensive elsewhere?

I'm going to play 18 tomorrow with a cart at Riverdale Golf Course for $30. That's pretty cheap for a half way decent course and no discount in Colorado. If anybody else knows some good deals in Colorado let me know.

I've played several courses offering 18 holes w/cart in the $13-20 range in the last few weeks. Some are very nice and if not for Golf Now the fees are as high as $72. Seeing something new this year, variable fees and not just week/weekend/ twilight rates. Some courses are offering lower than usual fees on slow days. Some are throwing in a hotdog and drink. Others are advertising driving range meet and greet specials, one place has a little building on the range that sells beer and wine. Another one does a couples night special that is a two-fer rate, you see lot's of male "couples" out there for that, the course actually encourages it. Some are hosting live bands on the patio and price of admission comes with one drink and access to the BBQ. Courses are getting creative and bringing more social activities on to the course.

No can do, my secret places are getting more crowded by the day .

Check out Todd Creek, just up the road from Riverdale. After 4PM it's usually $28 with cart. BTW Riverdale is more than half decent, at least The Dunes is. Thorncreek is $24, but I hate that place. Hyland Hills has been doing $30 Golf Now times on the gold course, blue course is $19. The courses in Boulder/Longmont are as low as $13 for 9 holes.

$14.00 for 18 and a cart last Saturday. 6:57 AM tee time. The course's site lists special "Last minute tee times" which is ironic because you can book them up to 7 days in advance.

Had I walked in without booking online, I would have paid $36.00. The course is a decent links style course that I try to hit once or twice a month.

Right on thanks Dave, I'll have to check those out. It's funny my in laws used to live in Todd Creek but I've never played there. You right about Riverdale it's not bad at all especially given the price. I live in Englewood so I'm a little further south but I'll go anywhere for a good deal.

If you live south your options are many if you use Golf Now. I see some screaming deals down there. I love Riverdale but the pigs that play there thrash the greens. I haven't been this year but last year it was like putting on the moon, ball bouncing everywhere. I hope it's in good shape for you.

I know this really doesn't count, but at the course I play at, which is the nicest in the area, I paid $200 for unlimited play including cart for June and played 22 times, for an average of $11.11 per round.

But then again, what the hell do I know?
