Some of the members have never changed their avatar for years. Don't you get bored seeing the same one all the time?

I used to change mine constantly. I'm a little more stable with my avatar now. Less dizzying. :-P

I rather like mine. Dr. Zoidberg playing golf. I think I set it shortly after I signed up for TST, and I don't intend to change it. Maybe if I think of something I'd like to change it to.

I kind of prefer it when people don't change their avatars too often, because you can quickly identify who is posting without having to look at the name.

It is a little odd when some users don't change their moderator-assigned avatars (for those who don't choose an avatar within their first 15-25 posts).

I actually have all avatars, sigs, in my bag crap turned off. So I don't know what any of yours are unless someone make special mention of an avatar.

Yeah, that's why I stopped changing them so often. I still change it once in a while to keep things fresh. That might explain why you have that super creepy owl…

This is why I don't change mine. I don't post enough. It would take awhile for people to get used to a new one. As of know, it is somewhat original. People can easily see "oh its just that deer guy again...moving along.."

Lol, his old avatar was a shitty old hatchback. I prefer the creepy owl. :-P

This thread's got me thinking it may be time to switch it up.

I guess I like to have new things to look at. Maybe some avatars are annoying. I get tired of seeing them and was hoping this thread would stimulate some to change. :-P Maybe I will do a @colin007 and shut them off.

Well, to be honest, my reason was because there were getting to be a lot of racy avatars of scantily clad wimmins, which just would've raised more questions from the wifey than I wanted to answer. Also, I read this forum at work (a public school) so I figured I didn't need those in my browsing history...

Reading this has inspired me to change mine! I'm picking a pic of Miyamato Musahi, a famous Japanese swordsman. I have far more experience in martial arts then golf. When I picked up golf, I was amazed at the similarities between learning martial arts and learning golf. Hence the martial art theme in my avatars. (My last avatar of Kung Fu Panda is just part of my sense of humor :-D .)

It explains why Colin has the avatars blocked at least...

    • My two cents? Don't. As a beginner that's interested in learning about the golf swing, you'll find yourself consuming a lot of information, most of which isn't even relevant to your own swing. You need to learn you can't think your way to a good golf swing. Focus on the one thing that you're working on and doing that on every swing, come what may. And remember, mishits happen.
    • Day 6 (7 May 24) - More work in the backyard focused on tempo in addition to setup.  Worked with 6 and 7 irons hitting hard foam balls - used the old MacGregor irons to mix it up a little.
    • No! lol. But they have to be in the right sequence to play mid-handicap golf or little better. Mostly. And even in that there is range/margin for error in the motions and positions that most normal humans can handle. It helps if you have a decent idea of how a golf club moves around the body like you would any other equipment sports (baseball and hockey might be the closest) After all, fairways are 40 yards wide. Don't overthink it. Be diligent in getting basics right. I will concede that it is harder than it sounds but it certainly is not exact angle/exact position/exact degree of bend/exact speed/exact facial expression, etc, every.... single.... time or the result is horrible death.
    • Looking to play in the Severna Park Golf league and it got rained out the first three weeks. I know the course is being renovated so it is not in great shape but the location is easy for me and I would love to meet some other golfers in my area. Anyone here in Maryland Annapolis area?
    • I like to look at the positives.  Overall you are fairly consistent down the center with most shots 20 yards or less off center.  On most fairways that should be in play.  Sure, you had some very short duds, but also if you look there is a good cluster in the 110-125 yard range.  Sure, we would all like to be longer, but knowing your typical shot is more important than trying to hit the 7-Iron 175 Yards.  Just take more club for longer shots and do not worry about it.  Your distances may increase as you improve over time so do not get caught up on that now.
